영양군은 지난 24일, 군을 방문한 한수원 관계자로부터 신규 양수발전소 건설 예비후보지에 영양군이 포함되었음을 확인했다.

군에 따르면 올해 1월 12일, 산업통상자원부는 제10차 전력수급기본계획(2022.~2036.)을확정했으며, 이 계획에 맞춰 한수원에서는 환경성, 기술 및 부지적합성 등의 검토를 거쳐 예비후보지 선정을 마쳤다.

예비후보지로 선정된 영양군의 경우 설비용량 1,000MW의 국비 2조원규모로 영양군 일월면 용화1리 일원에 건설될 예정으로 구체적인 세부 사업규모는 추후 예비타당성 검토를 거쳐 최종 확정될 예정이다.

이에 지난 25일, 읍면 및 단체 등 9개주요 민간 사회단체가 주축이 되어 ‘양수발전소 영양군 유치를 위한 범군민 유치위원회’(상임의장 양봉철)를 구성했고, 관(官)에서는‘영양 양수발전소 유치추진단’을구성하면서 전 방위적으로 본격적인 유치활동에 속도를 내고 있다.
