29일 군에 따르면 정부는 지난 12월 27일 전력거래소에 의뢰해 개최한 우선순위 심사위원회에서 4개 발전사 6개 자치단체가 제출한 양수발전소 유치사업 의향서를 평가했다.

평가 결과 제10차 전력수급기본계획의 필요 물량 1.75GW±20% 내 포함된 경남 합천군(900MW), 전남 구례군(500MW)을 우선사업자로 선정했다.

또한 적격기준을 통과한 봉화(중부발전), 영양(한수원), 곡성(동서발전), 금산(남동발전)을 예비사업자로 선정했다.

우선사업자와 예비사업자 모두 공공기관운영법에 규정된 예비타당성조사 통과 후 우선사업자는 10차 전력수급기본계획에 따른 물량으로 확정하고 2035년까지 준공 예정이며, 예비사업자는 11차 전력수급기본계획에 반영해 2035부터 2036년까지 순차 준공 예정이다.

우선순위 사업자 예비타당성조사 탈락 시 예비 사업자의 순위대로 지위를 승계할 예정이다.

박현국 봉화군수는 “지난 4월부터 12월까지 9개월간 양수발전소 유치란 하나의 목표로 열성적으로 지지해주신 봉화군민들께 감사의 말씀을 드리고 싶고 특히 소천면 두음리와 남회룡리 주민들께 말로 표현할 수 없을 정도의 감사 말씀을 드린다.”라고 말했다.

봉화군 신규 양수발전소는 봉화군 소천면 두음리와 남회룡리 일원에설비용량 500MW, 총사업비 1조 5천억 원, 총공사 기간 10년으로 내년 초 발표 예정인 11차 전력수급기본계획에 반영해 2036년까지 준공 될 예정이다.
