【브레이크뉴스 대구 】이성현 기자= ‘2024년 아마존웹서비스(Amazon Web Services, AWS) 제4회 우수 사회적경제기업 어워드 & 제2회 사회적경제기업 Woman Star 발굴 및 복지지원’시상식이 지난 22일 서울 엘타워에서 열렸다. 

아마존웹서비스, 한국사회적기업진흥원, 사회적경제활성화지원센터가 공동 주최하는 제4회 우수 사회적경제기업 어워드는 2021년부터 ‘우수한 사회적 가치를 창출하고 있는 IT분야 사회적경제기업과 성평등, 사회적약자 보호 등을 위한 혁신적인 비즈니스 모델을 통해 사회문제를 해결하고자 하는 사회적경제기업 및 여성 사회적기업가’를 선정하여 시상하고 있다.

올해는 레드리본사회적협동조합, 데프누리, 위즈온, 일배움터, 협동조합매일매일즐거워, 식판천사의 6개 기업이 선정됐다. 창립 10주년을 맞은 레드리본사회적협동조합은 HIV/AIDS 감염인의 자립과 인식개선을 위한 활동을 하는 에이즈 감염인 공동체이자 국내 1호 에이즈 사회적협동조합으로 지역사회 및 업계에서는 많이 알려져 있다. 

조합에 따르면 HIV라는 질병은 이미 만성질환화가 되었음에도 불구하고 감염인은 여전한 차별과 편견으로 사회적 고립이라는 큰 장벽에 부딪혀 있다.  

레드리본사회적협동조합은 그동안 상담, 쉼터 등 다방면으로 이들을 지원하던 중 HIV감염인을 지원하는 것뿐만 아니라 자활 및 노동으로 연계시켜 그들이 한 사람의 구성원으로 사회에서 설 수 있도록 돕는 것의 필요성을 느끼고 사회적협동조합을 설립했다. 

이곳의 특징은 협동조합 창립 사전 준비 단계에서부터 감염인 당사자들이 주체가 되어 사업들을 고민하고 실행해오고 있다. 또, H온드림오디션 등 다양한 프로젝트를 비감염인과 감염인 당사자가 함께 참여하고 추진하고 있다. 

조합의 대표적 활동으로는 에이즈 인식개선 및 HIV감염인 자립을 위하여 ‘소셜카페 빅핸즈’ 본점 및 직영매장 9곳 운영하고 있으며, HIV감염인 사회적주택 ‘꿈담채’를 운영하고 있다. 특히, 2023년부터는 로스터리 카페로서 우수성을 인정받아 대구시, 대구동구청의 고향사량기부제 공식답례품으로 선정되기도 했다. 

이 외에도 지속가능한 환경을 위한 제로웨이스트 사업과 함께 대구지역 카페, 베이커리 분야 사회적경제 주체들이 컨소시엄을 결성하여 만든 제로웨이스트 카페 ‘그린그루브’를 운영 중에 있고, 일회용품 사용을 줄이고 재사용 습관을 들이자는 의미를 담은 다회용기 서비스 ‘리유저블해빗 레빗’ 사업도 출범시켰다. 조합측은 “다회용기 세척장 운영 및 관련 어플리케이션 ‘REBIT’을 개발하여 점차 대두되고 있는 환경오염에 대한 문제를 개선하기 위한 노력을 하고 있다”고 의미를 설명했다. 

김지영 이사장은 “HIV감염인의 일자리 창출과 인식개선을 통해 그들의 자립을 돕고 탄소 중립을 위한 다회용컵 세척, 렌탈 사업으로 지속가능한 환경을 만드는 그간의 노력을 인정받은 느낌이다. 무엇보다 여러 어려움 속에서도 HIV감염인 및 조합원의 참여와 활동으로 이뤄낸 성과라는데 큰 자부심이 느껴진다”며 “이런 일련의 과정을 통해 HIV감염인의 사회적 관계를 회복하고 삶의 주도성을 되찾아 올 수 있도록 하기 위함”이라며 “감염인과 비감염인이 공동체를 이뤄 함께 노력해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.

This year, six companies were selected: Red Ribbon Social Cooperative, Defnuri, Wizon, Ilbaeumteo, Cooperative Everyday Joy, and Food Plate Angel. The Red Ribbon Social Cooperative, which celebrated its 10th anniversary, is a community of people infected with HIV/AIDS that works to improve their self-reliance and awareness, and is well-known in the local community and industry as the first AIDS social cooperative in Korea.

According to the cooperative, although HIV has already become a chronic disease, people infected with HIV still face a great barrier of social isolation due to discrimination and prejudice.

While supporting them in various ways such as counseling and shelters, the Red Ribbon Social Cooperative felt the need to not only support people infected with HIV, but also help them become independent and work, so they established a social cooperative.

The characteristic of this place is that the infected people themselves have been the main players in thinking about and implementing projects since the preparatory stage of the cooperative’s establishment. In addition, various projects such as the H Ondream Audition are being promoted by both non-infected and infected people.

The union's representative activities include operating the main branch and 9 direct stores of 'Social Café Big Hands' to improve AIDS awareness and help people living with HIV become independent, and operating 'Kkumdamchae', a social housing for people living with HIV. In particular, starting in 2023, it was selected as an official gift for the hometown donation system of Daegu City and Daegu Dong-gu Office in recognition of its excellence as a roastery café.

In addition, it is operating the zero-waste café 'Green Groove' created by a consortium of social economy entities in the Daegu area's café and bakery sectors along with the zero-waste business for a sustainable environment, and has also launched the 'Reusable Habit Rabbit' business, a reusable container service that aims to reduce the use of disposable products and encourage reuse habits. The union explained its meaning by saying, "We are working to improve the problem of environmental pollution that is gradually emerging by operating a reusable container washing facility and developing a related application 'REBIT'."

Chairman Kim Ji-young said, “I feel like our efforts to create jobs for people living with HIV and raise awareness to help them become self-reliant, and to create a sustainable environment through the carbon neutrality project of washing and renting reusable cups, have been recognized. Above all, I feel great pride in the fact that these achievements were made possible through the participation and activities of people living with HIV and union members despite many difficulties.” She added, “Through this series of processes, we aim to restore social relationships for people living with HIV and help them regain control of their lives. People living with HIV and those without HIV will form a community and work together.”
