【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시의 박정희 동상 설치에 지역 야권이 비판의 목소리를 높였다. 23일 오후 2시, 높이 3ｍ에 밀짚모자를 쓰고 볏단을 든 박정희 동상이 동대구역 광장에 모습을 드러냈다.

더불어민주당 대구시당은 이날 오전 11시 같은 장소에서 기자회견을 열고 “독재자 찬양 강요하는 박정희 동상 불법 설치를 강력히 규탄한다”고 밝혔다.

이들은 “국가철도공단이 지난 11월 13일, 11월 26일, 12월 6일 동대구역 광장에 추가 시설물을 설치하려면 공단과 협의해야 한다는 공문을 보냈고 13일 대구지법에 공사중지가처분 신청을 낸 것을 확인했다”며 “그러나 대구시는 가처분 결과가 난 후 동상을 설치해야 함에도 지난 21일 토요일 알박기하듯 불법으로 사전 설치까지 진행했다”고 지적했다.

정의당 대구시당은 성명을 통해 “윤석열 내란 비호하며 대선 꿈꾸는 홍준표, 독재 망령 불러내는 박정희 동상 설치부터 걷어치우라”고 반발했다.

이들은 “박정희는 2.28민주항쟁으로 촉발된 4.19민주혁명의 결과로 세워진 민주정부를 탱크와 총칼로 무너뜨린 군사쿠데타의 수괴이자 원조 내란 범죄자”라며 “홍준표 시장은 산업화 운운하면서 그의 행적을 기념하고 대구의 관문인 동대구역 광장에 동상을 세우겠다고 하니 말 그대로 어이상실”이라고 꼬집었다.

아울러 “대구는 서울로 가기 위해 잠시 머무는 곳이라고 생각하고, 자신의 정치적 욕심을 채우기 위해 민주주의와 헌법정신을 부정하는 홍준표 시장에게 권력을 맡길 대구시민과 대한민국 국민은 없다”고 덧붙였다.

조국혁신당 대구시당은 “동대구역은 대구 시민뿐만 아니라 전국 국민들에게 열려 있는 공공의 광장으로, 독재자의 동상을 세우려는 시도는 민주주의를 훼손하는 어처구니 없는 행위”라고 비판했다.

또한 “홍준표 대구시장은 박정희 내란범죄에 대해서는 철저히 침묵하며 일방적인‘공’만을 강조하고 있다”며 “홍 시장의 박정희 동상 설치를 강행으로 대구는 독재자를 기념하는 도시가 되어 민주주의를 바라는 대구시민들에게는 씻을 수 없는 상처를 남겼다”고 말했다.

진보당 대구시당은 “온 국민이 계엄과 내란과 군의 개입에 치를 떨고 있는 이 와중에 굳이 내란원조, 쿠데타 원조, 장기독재, 정치군인의 동상 설치를 강행하려는 의도를 알 사람은 다 안다”고 지적했다.

이들은 “홍 시장에게 동상은 오로지 자신의 대권가도에 필요한 치장물일 뿐이다”며 “윤석열을 단죄하는 민심의 거대한 파도가 홍시장도 비껴가지 않는다는 사실을 깨닫기 바란다”고 거듭 강조했다.
