이날 간담회에는 고용노동부 포항지청장, 산업안전보건공단 경북동부지사장, 그리고 포스코, 현대제철, 동국제강, 세아제강의 안전보건 리더들이 참석해 철강업계의 안전 관리 방안을 논의했다.

고용노동부는 이번 회의에서 사망사고 고위험 업종에 대한 안전 컨설팅과 안전 장비 재정 지원을 확대하겠다고 밝혔다. 이를 통해 중소기업의 안전 역량을 강화할 계획이다. 산업안전보건공단은 또한 시설 개선을 위한 저리 융자금 지원과 위험성 평가 지원 시스템을 도입해, 업종별 사례와 표준모델을 제공할 예정이다.

각 철강사도 안전 관리에 대한 지속적인 노력을 기울이고 있다. 포스코는 지속 가능한 안전 관리 시스템 구축을 목표로 하여 관계사의 안전 문화를 정착시키고 있으며, 현대제철은 협력사 교육을 강화하고 화재 감시자의 전문성을 높이고 있다.

동국제강은 협력업체 근로자를 직접 고용해 안정적인 근무 환경을 제공하고 있으며, 세아제강은 소규모 협력사를 대상으로 집중적인 안전 관리 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.

이동호 포항제철소 HSE 부소장은 “이번 간담회는 포항 지역 철강사들과 함께 상생하는 안전 문화를 만드는 중요한 출발점이 될 것”이라고 강조했다. 또한, 신동술 고용노동부 포항지청장은 “안전 문화 정착을 위한 협력의 자리를 마련해 준 것에 대해 감사드린다”고 전했다.
