이 날 최고기온이 36도까지 육박하는 무더위 속에서 소장단과 봉사단원들은 안전고글과 공구벨트를 착용하고 구슬땀을 흘렸다. 소장단과 봉사단원들은 형산강 산책로로 이어진 피라칸타 나무 가지치기 작업을 하고, 포항운하관 인근 조경을 정돈했다. 산책로 바로 옆에 무성하게 자라, 시민들의 통행을 방해하던 피라칸타 나무가 몇 시간만에 깔끔하게 정돈됐다.

천시열 제철소장도 봉사단과 함께 일일 조경사로 나섰다. 천시열 제철소장은 "날씨가 더워 땀으로 옷이 흥건해졌지만, 뿌듯하다"며 "지역사회에 보탬이 되는 일을 할 수 있어 즐거운 시간이었다"고 밝혔다.

한편, 포항제철소는 지역사회와 소통하고 나눔의 정신을 실천하기 위해 전 임직원이 나서 꾸준히 봉사활동을 실시하고 있다.

The Managers of the Steel Company, Cheon Si-yeol, also participated as a daily landscaping worker with the volunteer group. “The weather was hot and my clothes were soaked with sweat, but I felt proud,” said Cheon Si-yeol, the head of the steel mill. “It was a great time to be able to do something that helped the local community.” Meanwhile, all employees of Pohang Iron and Steel Company are consistently volunteering to communicate with the local community and practice the spirit of sharing.
