【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코 포항제철소(소장 이동렬)는 지난 6월 25일부터 27일까지 포스코 구룡포 수련원에서 지역 중소기업 직원들을 대상으로 ‘QSS(Quick Six Sigma) 혁신리더 심화 교육’을 실시했다고 30일 밝혔다.
이번 교육은 포스코의 고유 혁신 기법인 QSS를 전파해 지역 기업의 경쟁력을 높이기 위한 프로그램으로, QSS 기본 교육을 이수한 차세대 혁신리더 24명이 참여했다. 이들은 포항 지역 내 10개 중소기업에서 선발된 인원으로, 향후 각 사의 현장 혁신을 이끌어갈 주역들이다.
심화 교육은 단순한 이론 학습을 넘어 실무 중심으로 구성됐다. 단계별 과제 수행과 함께 공정, 작업, 품질, 설비 등 다양한 업무 영역에서의 손실(Loss) 요인을 분석하고 개선안을 도출하는 실습이 병행됐다. 참가자들은 기본 데이터를 활용한 성과 창출 방법까지 학습하며, 실제 현장에서 바로 적용 가능한 역량을 키웠다.
㈜삼일의 차상훈 혁신리더는 “기초 교육에서 배운 내용을 현장에 적용하면서 많은 개선을 경험했다”며 “이번 심화 과정은 더욱 구체적이고 실질적인 방법을 배울 수 있어, 앞으로 회사의 경쟁력 향상에 실질적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다”고 말했다.
포스코 포항제철소는 2011년부터 QSS 활동을 통한 지역 상생을 꾸준히 이어오고 있다. 현재까지 174개 중소기업에 QSS 기법을 도입하고, 총 569명의 혁신리더를 양성하는 등 지역 기업의 체질 개선과 지속 가능한 성장을 돕고 있다.
포항제철소 관계자는 “지역 기업의 경쟁력 강화는 곧 지역 경제의 활력으로 이어진다”며 “앞으로도 QSS 교육을 지속 확대해 지역사회와의 상생 가치를 실현해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

POSCO Pohang Steelworks Conducts QSS Innovation Leader Intensive Training for Local SME Employees
POSCO Pohang Steelworks (Director Lee Dong-ryeol) announced on the 30th that it conducted ‘QSS (Quick Six Sigma) Innovation Leader Intensive Training’ for local SME employees at the POSCO Guryongpo Training Center from June 25th to 27th.
This training is a program to spread POSCO’s unique innovation technique, QSS, and increase the competitiveness of local companies. 24 next-generation innovation leaders who completed basic QSS training participated. They were selected from 10 SMEs in the Pohang area and are the key players who will lead innovation in each company’s field in the future.
The intensive training went beyond simple theoretical learning and was focused on practical work. In addition to performing step-by-step tasks, it included practical training to analyze loss factors in various work areas such as processes, work, quality, and facilities and derive improvement plans. Participants learned how to create results using basic data and developed capabilities that can be applied immediately in actual fields.
Samil’s innovation leader Cha Sang-hoon said, “I experienced many improvements by applying what I learned in basic training to the field,” and added, “This advanced course will allow me to learn more specific and practical methods, so I expect it will make a real contribution to improving the company’s competitiveness in the future.”
POSCO Pohang Steelworks has been consistently promoting regional coexistence through QSS activities since 2011. To date, it has introduced QSS techniques to 174 small and medium-sized enterprises and fostered a total of 569 innovation leaders, helping to improve the constitution of regional companies and achieve sustainable growth.
A POSCO official said, “Enhancing the competitiveness of regional companies directly leads to the vitality of the regional economy,” and added, “We will continue to expand QSS training to realize the value of coexistence with the local community.”
