【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(사장 황주호, 이하 한수원)은 26일(현지시간) 캐나다 토론토에서 열린 미국 전력연구원(EPRI) 주관 원자력위원회(NPC, Nuclear Power Council) 회의에서 EPRI와 엔지니어링 교육 분야 협력을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 27일 밝혔다.

이번 협약에 따라 양 기관은 ▲2027년까지 매년 2회, 총 6회의 대면 교육 개최 ▲토론회 및 상호 실습 등 엔지니어링 관련 다양한 교육 프로그램 운영에 협력할 계획이다.

한수원은 지난해 12월 ‘엔지니어링 체계’로의 전환을 추진한 이후, 국내외 직무교육을 확대하며 엔지니어링 전문 역량 강화를 위해 노력해왔다. 회사 측은 이번 협약이 원전 성능 향상을 위한 엔지니어링 체계 내재화와 고도화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

이돈국 한수원 엔지니어링처장은 “이번 협약은 한수원 엔지니어들이 세계적 시야를 넓히는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “앞으로도 해외 운영사 및 국제기관과의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 한국형 엔지니어링 체계 완성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Signs MOU with EPRI for Engineering Education Cooperation

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on the 27th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EPRI for cooperation in engineering education at the Nuclear Power Council (NPC) meeting hosted by EPRI in Toronto, Canada on the 26th (local time).

Under this agreement, the two organizations plan to collaborate on various engineering-related educational programs, including: ▲ holding face-to-face training sessions twice a year, for a total of six sessions, through 2027; and ▲ conducting discussions and practical training.

Since transitioning to an "engineering system" in December of last year, KHNP has been expanding domestic and international job training programs to strengthen its engineering expertise. The company expects this agreement to significantly contribute to the internalization and advancement of its engineering system for improved nuclear power plant performance.

Lee Don-guk, head of the Engineering Department at Hanwha Solutions, said, “This agreement will serve as an opportunity for Hanwha Solutions engineers to broaden their global perspectives,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to complete a Korean-style engineering system through close cooperation with overseas operators and international organizations.”
