양 기관은 13일 서울 중구 동반성장위원회 중회의실에서 업무협약을 체결하고, 공모사업의 원활한 추진과 협력 강화를 다짐했다. 이번 사업은 골목상권을 중심으로 지역 경제의 회복과 성장을 도모하기 위해 지방정부가 기획한 과제를 공모·선정해 지원하는 방식으로 진행된다.

한수원과 동반성장위원회는 선정된 과제에 대해 사업 기획부터 실행까지 밀착 지원할 계획이며, 우수 성과를 낸 사업은 지역 성장 공공기관 선도 모델로 발굴해 전국적으로 확산할 방침이다.

공모 분야는 ▲지역상권 활성화 ▲지역기업 육성 ▲탄소중립 선도 ▲취약·약자기업 지원 등 4개 부문으로 구성되며, 최대 5개 과제가 선정된다. 총 사업비는 약 10억 원 규모로, 과제별로 1억 원에서 3억 원까지 차등 지원된다.

이번 사업은 지방정부가 지역 현안을 반영해 직접 기획한 과제를 공공기관이 지원하는 구조로, 실효성 높은 정책 추진과 함께 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대된다.

박천중 한수원 상생협력처장은 “지역경제의 회복과 도약은 우리 사회의 지속 가능한 발전을 위한 기반”이라며 “‘모두의 성장’이라는 정부 기조에 맞춰 선정 과제들이 지역 발전의 동력이 될 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

KHNP and Shared Growth Commission Launch First ‘Regional Economy Revitalization Contest’… Direct Support for Local Government Projects

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (President Kim Hoe-cheon) is launching the ‘Regional Economy Revitalization Contest’ in partnership with the Shared Growth Commission, marking the first time a public institution has done so.

On the 13th, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Shared Growth Commission’s main conference room in Jung-gu, Seoul, pledging to ensure the smooth implementation of the contest and strengthen cooperation. This initiative will proceed by soliciting, selecting, and supporting projects planned by local governments to promote the recovery and growth of the regional economy, focusing on local alleyway commercial districts.

KHNP and the Shared Growth Commission plan to provide close support for the selected projects from planning to execution. Furthermore, they intend to identify projects that demonstrate outstanding results as leading models for regional growth public institutions and expand them nationwide.

The contest is organized into four categories: revitalization of local commercial districts, nurturing of local businesses, leading carbon neutrality, and support for vulnerable and disadvantaged businesses. Up to five projects will be selected. The total project budget is approximately 1 billion won, with differentiated support ranging from 100 million to 300 million won per project.

This initiative features a structure in which public institutions support projects directly planned by local governments to reflect local issues; it is expected to revitalize the regional economy while promoting highly effective policy implementation.

Park Cheon-jung, Head of the Win-Win Cooperation Department at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), stated, "The recovery and leap forward of the regional economy are the foundation for the sustainable development of our society." He added, "In line with the government's policy of 'growth for all,' we will actively support the selected projects so that they can become a driving force for regional development."
