【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=계명대학교(총장 신일희) 간호대학은 지난 10월 30일 오전 11시부터 오후 5시까지 바우어관 앞 광장에서 외국인 유학생을 위한 무료 건강검진 및 ‘헬스페어(Health Fair)’ 행사를 열었다.

이번 행사는 간호대학 목회간호위원회(위원장 이은숙 교수)가 주관하고, (사)계명1%사랑나누기와 한국목회간호선교협회(회장 김정남 교수)가 후원했다.

이번 행사는 의료 사각지대에 놓이기 쉬운 외국인 유학생들에게 건강관리와 보건교육의 기회를 제공하고, 대학의 전문성을 지역사회와 글로벌 공동체의 건강증진에 환원하기 위한 사회공헌 프로그램으로 마련됐다.

1996년 설립된 계명대 간호대학 목회간호위원회는 국내 최초의 목회간호위원회로, 기독교적 사랑의 실천이라는 대학 설립이념을 바탕으로 지역사회와 교회 내 돌봄이 필요한 이웃을 위한 건강 상담, 검진, 심방 활동 등을 지속적으로 펼쳐왔다. 

미국 아이오와 메소디스트 목회간호센터의 마벨 커시(Marbel Kirsy) 교수가 도입한 목회간호 개념을 국내 교육과 지역 돌봄 현장에 접목해온 점도 특징이다.

창립 30주년을 맞은 올해, 목회간호위원회는 외국인 유학생 80여 명을 대상으로 혈압·혈당 측정, 인바디 및 체지방 검사, 심폐소생술(CPR) 교육 등 기본 건강검진과 보건교육을 실시했다. 이승희 학생을 비롯한 간호대학 재학생 20여 명이 자원봉사자로 참여해 검진을 돕고, 교육 프로그램을 함께 운영했다.

또한 한국목회간호선교협회는 현장 목회간호사를 지원해 행사 진행을 도왔으며, 학교·민간·지역사회가 유기적으로 협력하는 건강 돌봄 모델로 평가받았다.

이은숙 목회간호위원장은 “이번 행사는 단순한 건강검진이 아니라, 타문화권 유학생들이 따뜻한 관심 속에서 건강하게 학업을 이어갈 수 있도록 돕는 사랑의 실천”이라며 “앞으로도 간호대학의 전문성을 바탕으로 지역사회와 함께하는 목회간호의 본질을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

Keimyung University College of Nursing Hosts Free Health Checkups and Health Fair for International Students

Keimyung University (President Shin Il-hee) College of Nursing held a free health checkup and "Health Fair" event for international students on October 30th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the plaza in front of Bauer Hall.

The event was hosted by the College of Nursing's Pastoral Nursing Committee (Chairperson Professor Lee Eun-sook) and sponsored by Keimyung 1% Love Sharing and the Korea Pastoral Nursing Mission Association (President Professor Kim Jeong-nam).

This event was designed as a social contribution program to provide international students, who are often left behind in the healthcare gap, with access to health care and health education. It also aims to leverage the university's expertise to promote the health of local and global communities.

Established in 1996, the Keimyung University College of Nursing's Pastoral Nursing Committee was the first of its kind in Korea. Driven by the university's founding philosophy of practicing Christian love, it has consistently provided health counseling, screenings, and home visits to those in need within the local community and church.

Its unique characteristic is its integration of the pastoral nursing concept, introduced by Professor Marbel Kirsy of the Iowa Methodist Pastoral Nursing Center, into domestic education and community care settings.

This year, marking its 30th anniversary, the Pastoral Nursing Committee provided basic health screenings and health education for approximately 80 international students, including blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, InBody and body fat tests, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. Approximately 20 nursing students, including Seunghee Lee, volunteered to assist with the screenings and run the educational program.

The Korean Pastoral Nursing Mission Association also supported the event by providing on-site pastoral nurses, and it was recognized as a model of health care that organically collaborates with schools, the private sector, and the local community.

Lee Eun-sook, Chairwoman of the Pastoral Nursing Committee, stated, "This event is not simply a health checkup; it is an act of love, helping international students from different cultures continue their studies in a warm and caring environment." She added, "We will continue to uphold the essence of pastoral nursing, building on the expertise of the College of Nursing and working with the local community."
