사진작가 박창모(계명대학교 대외홍보팀, 전시기획)는 지난 봄 경북 산불의 잿빛 현장에서 이 질문을 품었다. 그는 단순한 재난 기록을 넘어, ‘기억의 윤리’를 담은 예술적 시선으로 재난의 현장을 다시 세웠다.

박 작가는 대형 산불이 휩쓴 숲과 타버린 나무, 그리고 그 속에서 다시 돋아나는 초록의 생명력을 카메라에 담았다. 그렇게 완성된 전시 '검은 봄 – 2025 경북산불사진기록'이 오는 11월 3일부터 28일까지 대구 하빈PMZ평화예술센터에서 열린다.

이번 전시는 지난 3월 경북 의성에서 발생해 안동·청송·영양·영덕으로 번진 산불의 현장을 중심으로 구성됐다. 박창모 작가를 비롯해 대구·경북 언론사 사진기자 공정식(뉴스1), 김영진(매일신문), 김진홍(대구일보), 이용선(경북매일) 등이 함께 참여했으며, 현장에 투입된 소방관과 피해 주민들이 직접 촬영한 사진도 전시된다.

총 23점의 작품은 ‘제10회 대구사진비엔날레 프린지 포토 페스티벌’의 참여 전시로, 재난 이후 자연의 회복과 사람들의 일상을 시간의 흐름에 따라 보여준다. 작품들은 관람객에게 ‘기억의 지속성과 회복의 의미’를 묻는다.

박창모 작가는 “재난은 예고 없이 찾아오며, 물리적 파괴와 함께 정서적 단절을 남긴다”며 “이번 전시는 말하기보다 듣는 태도로, 관객이 잠시 멈춰 그 자리에 머무는 시간을 만들고 싶었다”고 말했다.

그는 또 “누군가에게는 지워지고 싶은 기억일 수도, 누군가에게는 결코 잊히지 않는 고통일 수도 있다”며 “이 작업은 ‘검은 봄이 초록 봄으로 바뀌는 그날까지’ 이어질 기록의 여정”이라고 덧붙였다.

전시는 관람료 무료로 진행되며, 평일은 오전 9시부터 오후 6시, 토요일은 오전 10시부터 오후 4시까지 개관한다. (일요일 휴관)

Artist Park Chang-mo Holds Exhibition "Black Spring – 2025 Gyeongbuk Wildfire Photographic Record"

"Art does not save disasters, but it allows us to pause in the place of memory."

Photographer Park Chang-mo (Exhibition Planning, Public Relations Team, Keimyung University) pondered this question at the ashen site of the Gyeongbuk wildfires last spring. Beyond simply documenting the disaster, he reconstructed the disaster site with an artistic perspective that embraces the "ethics of memory."

Park captured forests ravaged by massive wildfires, scorched trees, and the vibrant green life that sprouted from them. The resulting exhibition, "Black Spring – 2025 Gyeongbuk Wildfire Photographic Record," will be held at the Habin PMZ Peace Arts Center in Daegu from November 3rd to 28th.

This exhibition centers on the site of the wildfire that broke out in Uiseong, Gyeongsangbuk-do last March and spread to Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok. Photojournalists from Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do media outlets, including Park Chang-mo and Gong Jeong-sik (News 1), Kim Young-jin (Maeil Shinmun), Kim Jin-hong (Daegu Ilbo), and Lee Yong-seon (Gyeongbuk Maeil), participated in the exhibition. Photos taken by firefighters and affected residents are also on display.

A total of 23 works, part of the 10th Daegu Photo Biennale Fringe Photo Festival, depict nature's recovery and people's daily lives after a disaster, over time. The works ask viewers about the persistence of memory and the meaning of recovery.

Park Chang-mo stated, "Disasters strike without warning, leaving behind physical destruction and emotional disconnection. This exhibition focuses on listening rather than speaking, inviting the audience to pause and reflect." He added, "For some, it may be a memory they wish to erase, while for others, it may be an unforgettable pain." He added, "This work is a journey of record that will continue 'until the day when black spring turns into green spring.'"

The exhibition is free and open weekdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. (Closed on Sundays)
