【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=계명대학교(총장 신일희)가 지난 20일 오전 10시, 성서캠퍼스 아담스채플에서 창립 126주년 기념식을 열고 교육과 의료, 지역사회 연계를 아우르는 미래지향적 비전을 발표했다.

이번 기념식에는 김남석 학교법인 이사장, 이재하 총동창회장, 신일희 총장 등 주요 인사와 교수 및 직원 65명이 참석했으며, 우수 교직원에 대한 표창과 함께 대학 발전에 기여한 노고를 치하하는 뜻깊은 자리가 마련됐다.

신일희 총장은 기념사에서 “AI 기술 개발과 학생 중심 환경 조성, 지역사회와의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 국제 경쟁력을 강화하고 지속 가능한 혁신 대학으로 도약할 것”이라며 “동산의료원과의 연계를 강화해 전국 최고 수준의 치료 서비스 제공과 스마트병원 구축에도 박차를 가하겠다”고 강조했다.

이재하 총동창회장은 “계명대는 세계 속에서 독자적 정체성을 확립해 왔다”며 “글로벌과 로컬의 융합, 즉 ‘글로컬’ 전략을 바탕으로 지역사회와 함께 성장하는 혁신 대학이 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.

한편, 계명대는 1899년 제중원 개원 연도를 창립 연도로 공식 확정하고 2014년부터 ‘창립’이라는 용어를 사용해 오고 있다. 이번 창립 126주년 기념식은 이 오랜 전통을 계승하며 미래로 도약하는 계명대의 의지를 다시 한번 다지는 계기가 됐다.

In his commemorative speech, President Shin Il-hee emphasized, “We will strengthen our international competitiveness and leap forward as a sustainable and innovative university through the development of AI technology, the creation of a student-centered environment, and close cooperation with the local community.” He also emphasized, “We will strengthen our connection with Dongsan Medical Center and accelerate the provision of the nation’s best treatment services and the establishment of a smart hospital.”

Lee Jae-ha, the president of the alumni association, said, “Keimyung University has established its own identity in the world,” and added, “I hope that it will become an innovative university that grows together with the local community based on the ‘glocal’ strategy, which is the fusion of global and local.” Meanwhile, Keimyung University officially confirmed the year of the opening of Jejungwon in 1899 as its founding year and has been using the term ‘foundation’ since 2014. This 126th anniversary ceremony was an opportunity to once again reaffirm Keimyung University’s will to inherit this long tradition and leap forward into the future.
