【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 지역의사양성사업단(단장 이관 의과대학장)은 지난 30일 경상북도교육청연구원에서 경북교육청연구원과 경상북도 중·고등학생 의학진로캠프 지원을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 사업의 일환으로, 지역 내 우수 인재를 조기에 발굴하고 미래 의료 인력을 체계적으로 양성하기 위해 추진됐다. 양 기관은 지역 중·고등학생들에게 심화된 의학 진로 탐색 기회를 제공하고, 장기적으로 지역 의료체계를 뒷받침할 핵심 인재를 육성하는 데 협력하기로 했다.

이관 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 지역의사양성사업단장은 “이번 협약을 통해 의학도를 꿈꾸는 지역 학생들에게 생생한 의학교육 현장을 제공할 수 있게 되어 뜻깊다”며 “지역 사정을 잘 이해하는 우수 인재들이 미래에 지역 의료 현장에 정착할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

이상진 경북교육청연구원장도 “동국대학교 의과대학의 전문적인 교육·연구 인프라와 연구원의 행정 역량이 결합돼 큰 시너지를 낼 것으로 기대한다”며 “지역 학생들의 진로 설계에 실질적인 도움이 되는 프로그램이 되도록 적극 협력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

지역의사양성사업단은 이에 앞서 지난 12월 29일 동국대학교 경주병원(병원장 신혜경)과도 실제 의료 현장 실습 지원을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다. 이를 통해 단순한 이론 교육을 넘어 병원 현장 체험과 현실적인 진로 탐색 기회를 제공하는 기반을 마련했다.

한편, 경상북도 중·고등학생 의학진로캠프는 학생 눈높이에 맞춘 두 개의 프로그램으로 운영된다. 오는 1월 17일부터 18일까지는 중학생 50명을 대상으로 한 ‘희망 의학진로캠프’가 열려 의학에 대한 흥미와 관심을 높일 예정이다. 이어 1월 24일부터 25일까지는 고등학생 50명을 대상으로 ‘진로탐색 의학캠프’가 진행돼 의대 진학을 희망하는 학생들에게 보다 구체적인 진로 탐색 기회를 제공한다. 두 캠프 모두 경주 화랑마을에서 숙박형으로 운영돼 집중도 높은 교육이 이뤄질 전망이다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Regional Doctor Training Project (Director: Lee Kwan, Dean of the College of Medicine) announced on the 30th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education Research Institute to support a medical career camp for middle and high school students in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

This MOU, part of the Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System (RISE) project, aims to identify talented individuals in the region early and systematically cultivate future medical professionals. The two organizations agreed to provide local middle and high school students with opportunities to explore in-depth medical careers and collaborate to cultivate key talent who will support the local healthcare system in the long term.

Lee Gwan, Director of the Regional Doctor Training Program at Dongguk University's WISE Campus, said, "This agreement is meaningful because it allows us to provide a vivid medical education experience to local students aspiring to become medical professionals. We will continue to support talented individuals with a keen understanding of the local environment so they can establish themselves in the local medical field."

Lee Sang-jin, Director of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education Research Institute, added, "We anticipate significant synergy by combining Dongguk University College of Medicine's professional educational and research infrastructure with the research institute's administrative capabilities. We will actively cooperate to ensure that this program provides practical assistance in career planning for local students."

Prior to this agreement, on December 29th, the Regional Doctor Training Program signed a business agreement with Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital (Director Shin Hye-kyung) to support practical medical field training. This agreement establishes a foundation for providing hospital experience and realistic career exploration opportunities beyond mere theoretical education.

Meanwhile, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Middle and High School Medical Career Camp is operated as two programs tailored to the needs of each student. From January 17th to 18th, the "Hope Medical Career Camp" will be held for 50 middle school students, aimed at stimulating interest and enthusiasm for medicine. Following this, from January 24th to 25th, the "Career Exploration Medical Camp" will be held for 50 high school students, providing students hoping to pursue medical school with more specific career exploration opportunities. Both camps will be held in Hwarang Village, Gyeongju, offering an overnight stay and are expected to provide highly focused education.
