동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 이영찬 평생교육원장이 지난 1월 22일 법무부 대회의실에서 열린 시상식에서 ‘사회통합정책 추진 유공’ 표창장을 받았다고 밝혔다.

이번 표창은 사회통합 정책의 현장 실행력을 높이고, 이민자의 조기 정착과 사회 참여 확대에 기여한 개인과 기관을 선정해 수여하는 상이다. 이 원장은 2014년 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 내 이민자사회통합센터를 설치한 이후, 법무부 사회통합프로그램을 12년째 안정적으로 운영하며 지역 기반 사회통합 모델을 구축해 왔다.

특히 언어와 문화 교육에 그치지 않고 생활·법률·취업·자립을 아우르는 통합 지원 체계를 마련해 외국인 유학생과 결혼이주여성, 외국인 근로자 등 다양한 이민자 계층의 실질적인 지역 정착을 도왔다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 또한 현장 수요를 반영한 맞춤형 교육 설계와 지역 유관기관과의 연계를 통해 정책 효과를 지속적으로 확산시켜 온 점도 주목받았다.

한편 이영찬 평생교육원장은 경북 RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 사업에서 △지속가능평생직업교육사업단 △포용사회혁신교육사업단 △경주 APEC 미래리더양성사업단을 이끌며, 평생·직업교육과 사회적 가치를 결합한 다양한 혁신 프로그램을 추진하고 있다. 이를 통해 지역 이민자와 성인학습자의 역량 강화와 고용 연계, 사회 참여 확대를 체계적으로 지원해 왔다.

이영찬 평생교육원장은 “이번 수상은 지역사회와 함께 쌓아온 사회통합의 노력이 인정받은 결과”라며 “앞으로도 현장 중심의 실천과 교육 혁신을 통해 포용과 공존의 사회 구현에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus announced that Director Lee Young-chan of the Lifelong Education Center received a commendation for "Contribution to the Promotion of Social Integration Policies" at an awards ceremony held in the Ministry of Justice conference room on January 22nd.

This award recognizes individuals and organizations that have contributed to enhancing the on-site implementation of social integration policies and expanding the early settlement and social participation of immigrants. Since establishing the Immigrant Social Integration Center at Dongguk University WISE Campus in 2014, Director Lee has steadily operated the Ministry of Justice's social integration program for 12 years, establishing a community-based social integration model.
