【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하)는 지난 10일 오후 교내 도서관 2층 갤러리백상에서 건학 120주년을 기념하는 ‘인도 문화교류 학술탐방 사진전’ 개막식을 개최했다.

이날 개막식에는 류완하 총장을 비롯해 정각원장 법천스님, 정책위원, 교직원, 인도 문화교류 학술탐방에 참여한 학생 등 대학 관계자들이 참석했다.

이번 사진전은 지난 1월 20일부터 11일간 진행된 ‘건학 120주년 기념 인도 문화교류 학술탐방’의 성과를 공유하고, 학생들의 국제교류 활동과 불교 성지 순례 경험을 대학 구성원과 지역사회에 알리기 위해 마련됐다.

탐방에 참여한 학생들은 인도 델리와 바라나시, 보드가야, 쿠시나가르 등 주요 불교 성지를 순례하고, 현지 초·중·고교와 관련 기관을 방문해 한국 문화를 소개하는 문화교류와 봉사활동을 펼쳤다.

사진전에서는 인도 현지 중·고교 및 대학과의 문화교류 활동과 불교 성지 순례 과정 등을 담은 사진 40여 점과 5분 내외 영상 3편이 전시된다. 전시는 오는 3월 20일까지 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 도서관 2층 갤러리백상에서 관람할 수 있다.

류완하 총장은 인사말에서 “이번 사진전은 건학이념인 지혜와 자비의 정신을 교육 현장에서 실천하는 모습을 보여주는 의미 있는 자리”라며 “앞으로도 학생들이 세계 속에서 배우고 다양한 문화와 교류하며 성장할 수 있도록 글로컬 교육과 국제교류 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

학생 탐방단 대표 박성호(불교학부 4학년)는 “탐방 기간 동안 불교 성지 순례와 현지 교류 활동을 통해 많은 배움을 얻었고 스스로 한 단계 성장할 수 있는 소중한 경험이 됐다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Holds "India Cultural Exchange Academic Tour Photo Exhibition" to Celebrate 120th Anniversary

Dongguk University WISE Campus (President Ryu Wan-ha) held an opening ceremony for the "India Cultural Exchange Academic Tour Photo Exhibition" on the afternoon of the 10th at Gallery Baeksang on the second floor of the campus library to commemorate the university's 120th anniversary.

The opening ceremony was attended by President Ryu Wan-ha, Venerable Beopcheon, Director of Jeonggakwon, policy committee members, faculty, students who participated in the tour, and other university officials.

This photo exhibition was organized to share the achievements of the "India Cultural Exchange Academic Tour to Celebrate 120th Anniversary," which ran for 11 days from January 20th. It also aims to share the students' international exchange activities and Buddhist pilgrimage experiences with the university community and the local community.

Students who participated in the tour made pilgrimages to major Buddhist holy sites in India, including Delhi, Varanasi, Bodh Gaya, and Kushinagar. They also visited local elementary, middle, and high schools and related organizations, engaging in cultural exchange and volunteer activities to introduce Korean culture.

The photo exhibition features approximately 40 photographs and three videos, each approximately five minutes long, documenting cultural exchange activities with local middle, high, and high schools and universities in India, as well as the pilgrimage to Buddhist holy sites. The exhibition will be on view until March 20th at Gallery Baeksang on the second floor of the Dongguk University WISE Campus Library.

President Ryu Wan-ha stated in his opening remarks, "This photo exhibition is a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate how our founding principles of wisdom and compassion are put into practice in the educational field." He added, "We will continue to expand our glocal education and international exchange programs so that students can learn from the world and grow through interaction with diverse cultures."

Park Seong-ho (4th year, Department of Buddhist Studies), the representative of the student tour group, said, “During the tour, I learned a lot through pilgrimages to Buddhist holy sites and local exchange activities, and it was a valuable experience that allowed me to grow to the next level.”
