【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하) 유아교육과는 지난 1월 19일 대만 타이난에 위치한 불광산자항유치원을 방문해 국제교류 활동을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 방문은 해외 유아교육기관의 선진 교육 철학과 운영 사례를 참관하고, 불교적 가치를 바탕으로 한 실천적 유아교육 방향을 모색하는 한편 향후 지속적인 교류 확대 방안을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다. 이날 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 유아교육과 김은경 학과장과 동국대 부속유치원장 안현정(능견스님) 교수를 포함한 교수진 6명이 참여했다.

불광산자항유치원은 대만 불광산사의 교육 이념을 토대로 운영되는 기관으로, 불광산사 창건자인 성운스님(星雲, 1927~2023)의 ‘인간불교’ 사상을 유아교육 현장에 적용하고 있다. 특히 성운스님의 ‘삼호운동(三好, Three Goodness)’을 놀이와 일상생활의 핵심 교육 원리로 삼아 유아의 전인적 성장과 관계 중심 교육을 실천하고 있다.

참가자들은 불광산자항유치원 원장 오숙훈(吳叔勳, Wú Shūxūn)의 안내로 교육시설을 둘러보며 ▲좋은 일 하기 ▲좋은 말 하기 ▲좋은 생각 지니기 등 삼호운동의 실천 원리가 유아들의 일상과 교육 활동 속에서 어떻게 구현되는지를 직접 확인했다. 또한 불교적 가치가 유치원 문화와 교육 환경에 자연스럽게 녹아든 다양한 사례를 공유하며 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.

김은경 유아교육과 학과장은 “이번 교류는 인성 및 가치 교육이 문화적 맥락 속에서 어떻게 효과적으로 구현될 수 있는지를 살펴볼 수 있는 뜻깊은 기회였다”며 “현장에서 얻은 통찰을 바탕으로 전문성과 인성을 겸비한 미래 교육자 양성에 더욱 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

안현정(능견스님) 동국대 부속유치원장은 “서로의 교육 철학과 지혜를 나누며 함께 성장할 수 있었던 의미 있는 시간이었다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 국제교류를 통해 예비 유아교사들이 글로벌 감각과 실무 역량을 갖춘 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 강조했다.

한편 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 유아교육과는 앞으로도 불교 정신에 입각한 유아교육 실천을 기반으로 전문성과 인성을 균형 있게 갖춘 교육자 양성에 매진할 계획이다.

Fo Guang Shan Zi Hang Kindergarten is an institution based on the educational philosophy of Fo Guang Shan Temple in Taiwan, applying the "Humanistic Buddhism" philosophy of Venerable Seong-un (1927-2023), the founder of Fo Guang Shan Temple, to early childhood education. Meanwhile, the Department of Early Childhood Education at Dongguk University's WISE Campus plans to continue to cultivate educators with a balanced mix of expertise and character, grounded in the Buddhist spirit of early childhood education.
