23일 대학 중앙관 멀티미디어실에서 열린 ‘2025년 RISE사업 및 혁신지원사업 성과공유회’에는 정은재 총장을 비롯한 대학 관계자와 김재욱 칠곡군수, 경북도의원 및 칠곡군의원, 지역 농업·의료·문화·여성단체 관계자 등 80여 명이 참석했다.

이날 행사에서는 경북라이즈센터 박준호 총괄기획팀장이 ‘RISE 체계에서의 지역 정주형 인재양성의 방향성’을 주제로 특강을 진행했으며, 김용호 경북과학대 라이즈사업단장이 올해 주요 추진 성과를 발표했다.

경북과학대는 RISE사업을 통해 △지역발효산업 혁신 △평생직업교육체계 구축 △지역 정주형 해외인재 양성 △수출형 농산업 고도화 등 다방면에서 성과를 거뒀다. 특히 ‘칠곡 꿀맥 브랜드’를 새롭게 론칭해 지역 축제와 연계한 홍보활동을 펼치며 경제·관광 분야 파급효과를 창출했다. 실험실 기반 수제 꿀맥주 R&D 모델 개발과 칠곡 프리미엄 쌀 포장기술 고도화도 지역 협력체계 강화 사례로 소개됐다.

또 ‘경북형 생애 재도약 평생직업교육 체계’ 구축을 통해 직업 전문성과 생활문해 능력을 겸비한 융합형 인재를 양성했다. 두피·모발 테라피 전문가 26명을 배출했으며, 칠곡군과 협력해 마을 단위 생활과학문해 프로그램을 운영하는 등 공동체 중심 학습문화를 확산시켰다.

대학은 칠곡군 평생학습관 1층에 개방형 공유교육 플랫폼 ‘상생마루’를 조성해 지역민과 학생이 함께 학습하는 공간을 마련했다. 아울러 참외 스마트팜 AI 운용 시스템과 온실 환경 모니터링 기술을 지역 농가에 지원하며 수출형 참외 산업의 미래 모델을 제시했다.

혁신지원사업 부문에서는 ‘지역사회를 견인하는 창의융합 인재 양성’을 목표로 교육혁신과 산학협력 혁신을 병행 추진했다. 에그테크(농산업)와 헬스케어(보건복지)를 특성화 분야로 육성하고, 미래 대응 교육체계 구축과 산업 맞춤형 실무역량 강화, 취·창업 연계 확대 등을 통해 지역혁신 모델을 구체화했다.

정은재 총장은 “대학 중장기 발전계획을 토대로 지역사회와 함께 지속 가능한 혁신 생태계를 구축하겠다”며 “지역과 대학이 함께 성장하는 RISE 체계의 선도 모델을 만들어 가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Through the RISE project, Kyungpook National University of Science and Technology has achieved results in a variety of areas, including innovation in the local fermentation industry, establishment of a lifelong vocational education system, fostering overseas talent who will settle in the region, and advancing export-oriented agricultural industries. In particular, the university launched the "Chilgok Honey Beer Brand" and conducted promotional activities in conjunction with local festivals, generating ripple effects in the economic and tourism sectors. The development of a laboratory-based craft honey beer R&D model and the advancement of Chilgok premium rice packaging technology were also highlighted as examples of strengthening regional cooperation.

Furthermore, through the establishment of the "Gyeongbuk-style Lifelong Vocational Education System for Lifelong Leap Forward," Kyungpook National University has fostered convergent talent with both professional expertise and practical literacy skills. Twenty-six scalp and hair therapy specialists have been trained, and a community-centered learning culture has been fostered through collaboration with Chilgok County, including the operation of a community-level practical science literacy program.

The university also established "Sangsaengmaru," an open, shared education platform, on the first floor of the Chilgok County Lifelong Learning Center, creating a space for local residents and students to learn together. Furthermore, the university provided support to local farmers through AI-powered melon smart farm operation systems and greenhouse environmental monitoring technologies, presenting a future model for the export-oriented melon industry.

In the innovation support sector, the university pursued educational innovation and industry-academia collaboration innovation in parallel with the goal of "cultivating creative and convergent talents who will drive the local community." Eggtech (agricultural industry) and healthcare (health and welfare) were fostered as specialized fields, and a regional innovation model was concretized through the establishment of a future-ready education system, strengthening industry-tailored practical capabilities, and expanding employment and entrepreneurship linkages.

President Jeong Eun-jae stated, "Based on the university's mid- to long-term development plan, we will build a sustainable innovation ecosystem in partnership with the local community. We will create a leading model for the RISE system, where the region and the university grow together."
