구미강동병원에서 열린 이날 협약식에는 김현정 총장과 정경희 국제교육원장, 송미숙 간호학과 교수, 정욱진 국제교육원 팀장 등 학교 관계자와 신재학 병원장, 이태준 행정부원장, 이명희 간호부장, 최연진 총무팀장, 하선주 국제진료팀장 등 병원 관계자들이 참석, 상호 협력 및 외국인 유학생 건강 증진에 기여할 것을 다짐했다.

이번 협약에 따라 경북과학대의 외국인 유학생이 구미강동병원을 이용할 경우, 진료비와 건강검진비 할인 혜택과 함께 건강 상담과 진료 시 무료 통역 서비스를 제공받는다.

의료비 할인율은 의료보험 보유 유무에 따라 5~20%이며, 미용 성형이나 비급여 시술 등은 대상에서 제외된다.

김현정 경북과학대 총장은 “외국인 유학생들의 의료비 부담을 줄여주기 위해 이번 협약을 체결했다”며 “낯선 타국에서 어렵게 생활하고 있는 외국인 재학생들이 건강하게 학업에 전념할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
