경북과학대학교(총장 정은재)는 지난 3월 31일 대학 중앙관 회의실에서 영국 Burton and South Derbyshire College와 국제교류 협약식을 개최하고, 양 기관 간 포괄적 교육 협력 체계를 구축하기로 했다.

이날 협약식에는 경북과학대 정은재 총장을 비롯해 정경희 대외협력본부장, 최길용 국제교류처장이 참석했으며, 영국 측에서는 존 비티(John Beaty) 총장과 암릿 버크(Amrit Virk) 국제처 부학장, 손경문 동아시아 본부장 등이 자리해 협력 방안을 논의했다.

협약의 주요 내용은 △학생 및 교직원 교류 △공동 학술 프로그램 운영 △공동 연구 프로젝트 추진 △교재 개발 및 교과과정 공동 운영 등이다. 양 대학은 이를 기반으로 현장 중심 직업교육과 글로벌 역량 강화를 위해 단기·장기 교환 프로그램과 공동 교육과정을 단계적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

협약식 이후 양 기관 관계자들은 경북과학대 학교기업 식품공장과 양조공장을 방문해 ‘감식초’와 ‘칠곡꿀맥’의 제조 과정을 둘러보고 시음하는 시간을 가졌다.

정은재 총장은 “영국 유수 직업교육기관과의 협력이 학생들에게 세계 수준의 교육과 연구 기회를 제공하는 출발점이 될 것”이라며 “지역 산업과 연계한 글로벌 캠퍼스로 도약하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Kyungpook National University is partnering with a vocational education institution in the UK to foster global talent.

On March 31, Kyungpook National University (President Jung Eun-jae) held an international exchange agreement ceremony with Burton and South Derbyshire College in the conference room of the university's main building and agreed to establish a comprehensive educational cooperation system between the two institutions.

The ceremony was attended by Kyungpook National University President Jung Eun-jae, Director of External Affairs Jung Kyung-hee, and Director of International Exchange Choi Gil-yong. From the UK side, President John Beaty, Vice Dean of International Affairs Amrit Virk, and Director of East Asia Son Kyung-moon were present to discuss cooperation plans.

The key contents of the agreement include student and faculty exchanges, operation of joint academic programs, promotion of joint research projects, and joint development of textbooks and curriculum operation. Based on this foundation, the two universities plan to gradually expand short- and long-term exchange programs and joint curricula to enhance field-oriented vocational education and global competencies.

Following the signing ceremony, officials from both institutions visited the food and brewing factories of Gyeongbuk Science University's school enterprises to tour the manufacturing processes of "Persimmon Vinegar" and "Chilgok Honey Beer" and participate in tasting sessions.

President Jeong Eun-jae stated, "Cooperation with a leading vocational education institution in the UK will serve as a starting point for providing students with world-class educational and research opportunities," adding, "We will leap forward as a global campus linked to local industries."
