그러면서 “최근 선거가 막판으로 다가오면서 허위사실 유포와 무차별적 네거티브가 더 이상 보고만 있을 수 없는 지경까지 선을 넘고, 각종 SNS를 통해 무차별적으로 유포시키고 있는 관련자에 대하여 허위사실 유포와 명예훼손에 대해서 사법기관 고발조치 등 강력하게 대응하겠다"고 밝혔다.
이에 더해 “SNS를 통해 무차별적으로 허위사실을 유포하는 사람은 가중 처벌을 받을 수 있다”고 경고하고 “즉각 중단할 것을 강력히 촉구한다”고 거듭 강조했다.
하지만, 임 후보측은 시중에 유포되고 있는 내용 중 어떤 것들이 허위사실인지에 대하여는 공개하지 않았다.
