【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=  대구시는 서부도서관 리모델링 공사가 완료돼 오는 28일 재개관 한다고 밝혔다.

21일, 대구시에 따르면  76억 원의 사업비가 투입된 리모델링 공사는 효율적인 공간구성과 어린이자료실 개선, 열람실 정비, 엘리베이터 설치, 석면제거, 낡은 가구와 집기 교체 등으로 진행됐다.

도서관의 주요 공간 배치는 지하 1층에는 향토문학실과 전시실, 강당, 1층은 어린이실과 카페 및 강의실, 2층과 3층은 종합자료실, 열람실을 4층은 사무공간 등으로 구성했다.

지하 1층은 이용률이 적고 과도한 면적을 차지하고 있던 강당을 과감하게 축소하고 향토문학실과 전시실 및 강당으로 공간을 재분배해 시민들에게 더 많은 자료와 전시공간을 제공할 수 있도록 새롭게 구성했다.

1층 어린이실은 어린이부터 어른까지 사용할 수 있는 유니버셜 디자인이 적용된 전문 가구를 제작·설치했으며, 어린이들의 다양한 호기심을 자극할 수 있도록 바다와 잠수함을 디자인 콘셉트로 잡아 아이들에게 독서의 흥미를 일으킬 수 있는 공간으로 구성했다. 

2층과 3층은 열람실의 면적을 축소해 자료실 위주의 열람실을 구성하고 휴게실을 조성했으며 4층은 사무공간으로 구성해 이용객들의 접근성을 최대한 고려했다.

재개관일에는 도서관 이용 불편을 참고 기다려 주신 시민들에게 감사의 뜻으로 다양한 이벤트와 기념행사를 가질 예정이다.

조경선 대구시 청년여성교육국장은 “오랜 기다림 끝에 도서관을 다시 이용할 날만 기다린 지역주민들에게 책도 잃고 따뜻한 온기를 나눌 수 있는 공간이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
