팔공산 자락에 위치한 야영장 3개소는 수려한 자연 풍광과 접근성으로 캠핑족들로부터 꾸준한 사랑을 받아왔다.
해발 1,193m 팔공산의 정기를 듬뿍 안고 있는 동화야영장, 깊은 계곡을 끼고 있는 도학오토야영장, 아홉 계곡의 물줄기를 즐길 수 있는 파계오토야영장 등 각 야영장은 각각의 특징을 가지고 있다.
특히 무더위가 절정인 7∼8월에는 산속에서 불어오는 자연바람이 선풍기 역할을 해 도심과 다른 공기를 느낄 수 있다.
총 사용 공간은 동화야영장은 44면, 도학오토야영장은 29면, 파계오토야영장은 24면으로 각각 취사장, 샤워실, 화장실, 전기시설 등 편의시설을 골고루 갖추고 있어 편리함을 자랑한다.
야영장 1일 이용요금은 동화야영장의 경우 성수기(7∼8월, 금·토·공휴일)는 8천 원∼1만 원, 비수기는 6천 원∼8천 원이며 도학·파계오토야영장은 성수기는 1만 7천 원 ∼2만 원, 비수기는 1만 4천 원 ∼1만 7천 원으로 대구시 통합예약시스템을 통해 예약할 수 있다.
김형일 대구시 도시관리본부장은 “시민들이 일상생활에서 받은 스트레스는 야영장에서 모두 날려버리고 팔공산의 좋은 기운을 받아 갈 수 있도록 시설물과 주변 환경이 쾌적하게 유지되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
