29일 경상도는 지난해 12월부터 올해 1월까지 2번에 걸친 공모 끝에 경북도는 지난 2일 김남일 전 포항시 부시장을 최종 후보자로 선정했다고 밝혔다.

이어 지난 22일 개최된 경상북도의회 인사청문위원회에서 인사청문 경과보고서가 채택됨에 따라 28일 사장으로 최종 임명했다. 임기는 3년으로 2027년 2월 27일까지 사장직을 수행한다.

도 관계자는 지난 30여 년간 중앙과 경상북도에서 문화관광체육, 환경해양산림, 경제통상, 투자유치 등 다양한 공직 경험을 가진 김남일 사장이 미래 경상북도의 새로운 문화관광 가치 창조라는 중대한 과제를 이끌 적임자라고 판단해 낙점됐다고 봤다.

김남일 사장은 “지난 30여 년간 공직생활의경험과 노하우, 인적 네트워크를 바탕으로 열린경영과 청렴경영이라는 기치 아래 임직원들의 의견을 충분히 듣고, 소통하며 공사를 이끌어 나가겠다”며, “특히 2025년창립 50주년을 대비해 경북의 인문산수(人文山水)를 연계하는 새로운 문화관광 전략을 수립해 미래 경북 문화관광의 새로운 50년을 열 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.

김남일 사장은 1967년 경북 상주 출신으로 고려대학교를 졸업하고 서울대학교에서 행정학 석사를, 경북대학교에서 행정학 박사를 취득했다.

1989년 행정고시(33회)를 통해 공직에 입문, 공보처를 첫 시작으로 경상북도 문화관광체육국장, 환경해양산림국장, 환동해지역본부장, 경주시 및 포항시 부시장 등을 역임했다.
