【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 지난 9일 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 원효관 글로벌에이스홀에서 경주시 후원으로 서정인 유엔기념공원관리처장을 초청해 경주형 세계시민교육 초청강연을 개최했다고 11일 밝혔다.

서정인 처장은 “APEC 이후 아세안, 우리가 어떻게 보아야 하나?” 라는 주제로 강연을 펼쳤고 경주시민 및 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 교직원과 재학생 등 100여 명이 강연에 참여했다. 강연 후에 서정인 처장은 경주시민 및 참석자 등으로부터 질문을 받고 답하는 시간을 가졌다.

서정인 처장은 “세계 공급망 개편, 미국과 중국의 경쟁 심화, 글로벌 가치사슬의 이동 속에서 아세안은 이미 한국의 필수 경제 및 외교 파트너로 부상했다며, 한국은 아세안과의 협력을 장기적 동반성장 전략으로 전환해야 하고 변화하는 지역 질서 속에서 아세안과의 연계를 더욱 공고히 해야한다”라고 말했다.

“경주형 세계시민교육”은 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 글로벌융합연구소에서 경주시와 관학협력사업의 일환으로 기획한 명품 교양강좌 시리즈로 매월 개최될 예정이다.

이번 행사를 준비한 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 글로벌융합연구소 이영찬 교수는 “경주 시민들을 대상으로 문화다양성, 지속가능발전목표, 국제개발협력 등 세계시민성에 관한 핵심 주제별 강의를 제공하여 책임있는 세계시민으로서의 소양을 갖출 수 있도록 지원하고자 하며, 경주의 지역인재양성과 글로컬 특성화 모델을 창출할 수 있기를 기대한다.”고 말했다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Hosts Gyeongju-Style Global Citizenship Education Invitational Lecture

Dongguk University WISE Campus announced on the 11th that it hosted a Gyeongju-style Global Citizenship Education Invitational Lecture on the 9th at the Wonhyo Hall Global Ace Hall on the campus, sponsored by the city of Gyeongju, inviting Seo Jeong-in, Director of the UN Memorial Cemetery Management Office.

Director Seo delivered a lecture titled "How Should We View ASEAN After APEC?" Approximately 100 people, including Gyeongju citizens, faculty, and students at Dongguk University WISE Campus, attended the lecture. Following the lecture, Director Seo held a Q&A session with Gyeongju citizens and attendees.

Director Seo Jeong-in stated, "Amidst the restructuring of global supply chains, intensifying competition between the US and China, and shifting global value chains, ASEAN has already emerged as an essential economic and diplomatic partner for Korea. Korea must transform its cooperation with ASEAN into a long-term, shared growth strategy and further strengthen its ties with ASEAN amidst the changing regional order."

"Gyeongju-Style Global Citizenship Education" is a series of premium liberal arts lectures planned by the Dongguk University WISE Campus Global Convergence Institute as part of a government-academic cooperation project with the city of Gyeongju. The lectures will be held monthly.

Professor Lee Young-chan of the Dongguk University WISE Campus Global Convergence Institute, who organized the event, stated, "We aim to provide Gyeongju citizens with lectures on key topics related to global citizenship, such as cultural diversity, the Sustainable Development Goals, and international development cooperation, to help them develop the qualities of responsible global citizens. We also hope to create a model for Gyeongju's local talent development and glocalization."
