【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=조국혁신당 대구시당이 구미시의 ‘박정희 역사자료관 제2관’ 건립 추진에 대해, “시민 삶과 동떨어진 역사 미화 사업”이라며 강하게 반발하고 나섰다.

11일 조국혁신당 대구시당은 논평을 내고 “구미시가 약 200억 원의 예산을 들여 박정희 전 대통령 역사자료관 제2관 건립을 추진 중”이라며 “이미 다양한 기념 시설이 있음에도 또다시 대규모 예산을 투입하는 것은 시민 생활을 외면한 예산 낭비”라고 주장했다.

시당은 구미시에 박정희 대통령 역사자료관(2021년 개관)을 비롯해 생가, 민족중흥관, 새마을테마공원 등 여러 관련 기념 시설이 운영되고 있다고 지적했다. 그러나 일부 시설은 관람객이 기대치에 못 미치고, 운영의 실효성 논란도 계속되고 있다며 추가 시설 신설에 의문을 제기했다.

이어 “전국 지방자치단체들이 골목상권 활성화, 돌봄 정책 확대 등 시민 생활에 밀접한 분야에 재정을 우선 투입하고 있는데, 구미시가 또 다른 기념 시설에 거액의 예산을 쓰려는 것은 세금의 우선순위에 맞지 않는다”고 비판했다.

기존 역사자료관 전시에 대한 문제점도 언급했다. 조국혁신당 대구시당은 “경제 성과 중심의 편향된 전시와 개인 유물 위주 구성으로 인해, 독재 시기의 인권 탄압과 민주주의 훼손 문제는 제대로 다뤄지지 않았다는 비판이 이어져왔다”며 “제2관 역시 같은 방향이라면 결국 독재 미화 시설 확장에 불과하다”고 주장했다.

또 “자료 보존이 목적이라면 국가기록원 위탁 등 다른 방법도 충분히 가능하다”고 덧붙였다.

조국혁신당 대구시당은 ▲박정희 역사자료관 제2관 건립 계획 즉각 철회 ▲기존 역사자료관 전시의 균형 있는 재검토 ▲200억 원 예산을 골목상권 활성화와 돌봄 등 시민 생활과 직결된 사업으로 전환할 것을 구미시에 요구했다.

차규근 대구시당위원장은 “구미시가 지역의 미래를 생각한다면 시민 삶에 투자하는 결단을 내려야 할 때”라며 “이제는 독재 기념 시설 대신 시민을 위한 정책으로 방향을 전환해야 한다”고 강조했다.

They also cited issues with the existing historical archives. The Daegu chapter of the Cho Kuk Reform Party argued, "Due to the biased exhibition focused on economic performance and the focus on personal artifacts, there has been continued criticism that the human rights abuses and undermining of democracy during the dictatorship have not been properly addressed." They added, "If the second building follows the same path, it will ultimately be nothing more than an expansion of facilities glorifying the dictatorship."

They added, "If the goal is to preserve the materials, other methods, such as entrusting them to the National Archives, are fully feasible."

The Daegu chapter of the Cho Kuk Reform Party demanded that Gumi City immediately withdraw plans to build a second building for the Park Chung-hee Historical Archives, conduct a balanced review of the existing exhibitions, and redirect the 20 billion won budget to projects directly related to citizens' lives, such as revitalizing neighborhood businesses and providing care.

Cha Gyu-geun, Chairman of the Daegu City Party, emphasized, "If Gumi City is serious about its future, it must make the decision to invest in the lives of its citizens. It's time to shift its focus from dictatorship memorials to policies that benefit its citizens."
