경북대 다양성위원회(위원장 김유경)가 최근 경북대학교 서문 인근 대현동이슬람사원 건립을 둘러싼 갈등과 관련하여 성명서를 발표했다.

지난 8일 경북대 다양성위원회는 대학 구성원의 인식 개선 및 정책 개발에 힘쓰고 나아가 지역사회가 다양성을 통해 상호존중과 공생의 미래로 가는 길에 함께 하겠다는 내용의 성명서를 발표했다.

이들은 성명서를 통해 최근 대현동 이슬람사원 건립을 둘러싼 갈등에 안타까움을 표하며, “중요한 것은 갈등을 해결해나가기 위한 소통이다. 민주 사회에서 갈등 해결을 위한 대화와 타협이 가능하려면 반드시 필요한 조건이, 다양성의 인정이다.”라고 전했다.
