권영진 대구광역시장이 한국사회복지사협회(이하 협회)로부터 명예사회복지사로 위촉됐다.

협회는 그동안 권영진 시장이 지역사회 소외된 시민을 위해 노력해왔고, 특히 사회복지사에 대한 각별한 애정과 넓은 이해심을 가지고 그들의 처우와 근로환경 개선을 위해 앞장섰다는 점을 높이 산 것으로 알려졌다. 

실제, 권 시장은 2022년부터 대구사회복지시설 종사자 처우개선 계획을 수립하는 등 사회복지사의 처우를 대폭 끌어올린 평가를 받고 있다. 

권 시장은 이날 명예사회복지사 위촉패 및 사회복지사를 상징하는 ‘Power social worker’ 뱃지를 받았다.

권영진 시장은 “사회복지사 여러분의 노고를 누구보다 잘 알고 있다. 특히 코로나19 상황에서도 우리 이웃들의 곁을 지켜주신 사회복지사 여러분께 진심으로 감사드린다” 며 “명예사회복지사로 위촉됨을 기쁘게 생각하고, 앞으로도 대구 사회복지사 여러분들이 현장에서 행복하게 일할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다"고 수상 소감을 밝혔다.
