【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 코로나19 등으로 지친 학생들의 건강 증진, 친환경 농산물의 안정적 생산과 농가소득 증대 등을 위해 학교급식에 친환경농산물 무상 공급을 지속해서 확대한다고 31일 밝혔다.

경상북도에 따르면 친환경농산물 학교급식은 지역에서 생산된 신선하고 우수한 농산물을 제공함으로써 학생들의 건강증진과 농업인들의 소득증대를 위해 2014년부터 학교에 현물로 공급하고 있다.

질 높고 안전한 친환경농산물 공급을 위해 공인기관인 농산물품질관리원 등에서 안전성 검사를 단계별로 철저하게 실시하고 있으며, 계약재배를 통해 친환경농산물을 안정적으로 공급하고 있다.

특히, 생산농가는 해당 품목 최초 납품일 전 2주 이내에 농산물품질관리원 등에서 발부하는 안전성 검사 확인서를 첨부해 납품토록 해 안전성 관리에도 만전을 기하고 있다.

올해도 374억원의 예산을 투입해 초중고특수대안학교 974개교 258천명의 학생들에게 지원하고 있다.

또 2018년부터 아동‧청소년의 비만을 해소하고 과일 섭취를 통한 어린이 식습관 개선과 국산 제철과일의 안정적인 소비를 위해 초등돌봄교실 과일간식 지원 사업도 시범사업으로 추진하고 있다.

올해도 11억원의 예산으로 지역 모든 시군 초등학교 돌봄교실에 과일간식을 공급하고 있으며 점차 확대 해 나갈 방침이다.

과일간식 지원 사업에 사용되는 과일은 지역에서 생산된 친환경 또는 우수농산물관리(GAP)인증을 받은 농산물로 학생 1인당 1회 150g 내외로 주 1~2회, 연간 30회 정도 공급된다.

코로나19 확산 등 불가피하게 돌봄교실 내 간식 제공이 어려울 경우 택배 또는 과일간식 꾸러미로 대체해 나갈 예정이다.

아울러 전면 무상급식 실시로 지역 초중고특수대안학교 973개교 25.7만명을 대상으로 1195억원의 예산을 투입해 교육비 부담 경감은 물론 교육복지 실현을 앞당기고 있다.

김종수 경북도 농축산유통국장은 “친환경농산물이 안전하게 공급될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다. 일선에서도 신뢰를 가지고 이용을 확대해 달라”며 “아이들의 건강을 지키고 행복지수를 높여 전국 최고 수준의 안전 급식을 지원토록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
