29일 대구시에 따르면 조사결과 2020년 말 결산 기준 대구 중견기업 수는 122개 사로 전국 중견기업 (5,526개)에서 차지하는 비중은 2.2%였고, 고용하고 있는 종사자 수는 3.1만명, 매출규모는 17조 2천억원으로 나타났다. 

전체 122개 사 중, 제조업은 58개 사(47.5%), 비제조업은 64개 사(52.5%)로 제조업 주요업종별 구성비는 자동차(50.0%), 기계장비(15.5%), 1차 금속(13.8%) 등의 순이었고 비제조업은 도소매(37.5%), 건설(12.5%), 부동산(12.5%) 등의 순으로 집계됐다.

중견기업 122개 사 대상 총 10개 영역 45개 항목으로 지난 5월부터 약 2개월간 실태조사를 실시한 결과, 90개 사가 응답했다.

응답 중견기업의 2021년 총 채용인원은 2,789명이며, 직무별로 기술·생산직(66.5%)을 가장 많이 채용했고, 사무·관리직(15.1%), 연구개발직(6.8%)이 그 뒤를 이었다. 

이 중, 지역(최종학력 소재지 대구·경산 지역) 출신은 총 채용인원의 75.2% 수준인 것으로 집계됐다.

응답 중견기업의 2021년 근로자 1인 평균급여액은 연봉기준 5,041만원으로 조사됐고, 대졸기준 신입사원 평균 초임수준은 3,590만원으로 나타났다. 근로자 평균 근속 연수는 112개월(약 9년 4개월)이었다.

현재 신산업을 추진 중인 중견기업은 10곳 중 4곳(41.0%)으로 신산업 추진 분야는 미래차 산업(55.9%)이 가장 많고, 다음으로 에너지 산업(14.7%), 로봇 산업(8.8%), AI·빅데이터 산업(5.9%) 순이었다. 

기업당 평균 R&D 투자금액은 35억 2천만원, 설비투자 금액은 73억 6천만원이며, 2022년 각각 36억 3천만원, 113억원 증가할 것으로 예상했다.

응답 중견기업 중, 수·위탁 거래를 하고 있는 기업은 63.1%이고 1차 협력사(35.7%), 최상위 원사업자(17.9%), 2차 협력사(9.5%)순으로 응답했다.

1개 중견기업이 평균적으로 업무를 위탁하는 기업 수는 대·중견기업 18.5개, 중소기업 155.8개였고, 협력사와 겪는 주요 애로사항은 납품단가 인상 요청(45.1%)이 가장 높았다. 

대구 소재로 인한 지역 중견기업의 주요 애로는 인력확보(48.9%)였고, 자금 조달 시 겪는 주요 애로는 금리상승(54.8%)으로 답했다. 

기업 경영상 개선이 필요하다고 지적한 제도는 주 52시간 근로(31.0%)를 가장 많이 꼽았고, 다음으로 중대재해처벌법(23.7%), 최저임금(15.9%), 환경규제(12.9%) 순이었다. 

서정혜 대구시 경제정책관은 “현재 중견기업에 대한 정책지원이 부족한 가운데 이번 조사가 대구시의 중견기업에 대한 시각을 재정립하는 계기가 될 것으로 보인다”며, “중견기업 네트워킹 마련과 ESG 대응 지원에 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
