우리공화당에 따르면 조원진 대표는 이날 오후 4시경 서울 용산구 녹사평 광장에 마련된 이태원 참사 희생자 합동 분향소를 찾아 국화를 헌화하고 희생자를 애도했다. 이후 조원진 대표와 지도부는 참혹한 참사 현장을 둘러봤다.

조원진 대표는 조문 이후 “충격적인 이태원 참사로 온 국민이 슬픔에 잠겼다. 도저히 일어나서는 안 될 일이 발생했다. 희생자분들께 깊은 애도를 표하고 부상자분들의 빠른 쾌유를 기원한다"라고 말했다.

이어 조원진 대표는 “안전을 소홀히 할 곳은 단 한곳도 없다. 국민안전이 최우선이다. 대한민국의 안전사각지대가 있는지 꼼꼼히 살펴야 한다.”면서 “국가 애도 기간 숙연한 마음으로 희생자분들의 명복을 빌고 진심 어린 애도를 하겠다."라고 말했다.

한편 우리공화당은 이태원 참사 희생자 합동 분향소 조문에 앞서 이날 오후 2시 30분 긴급 최고위원회의를 열어 이태원 참사 수습 방안과 재발방지 대책을 논의했다.
