28일 포항시는 정해천 맑은물사업본부장, 백인규 포항시의회 의장, 유관기관·단체장, 주민이 참석한 가운데 ‘송라 공공하수처리시설 설치 및 관로 정비사업 기공식’ 행사를 현장에서 개최했다.

이날 기공식을 가진 ‘송라 공공하수처리시설 설치 및 관로정비사업’은 환경부로부터 2019년부터 총사업비 398억을 투입해 일처리량 800톤의 하수처리시설을 설치하고, 하수관로 32㎞, 송라면과 청하면 일부 지역의 배수 설비 1,029개의 가옥을 정비하는 사업으로 2025년 8월 준공을 목표로 하고 있다.

포항시는 공공하수처리시설 설치 및 하수관로 정비사업으로 하천 수질오염을 방지하고 개인 정화조 폐쇄에 따라 수거 비용을 절감할 뿐만 아니라 악취·해충으로 인한 주민 불편이 감소할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

정해천 맑은물사업본부장은 “이번에 새로 설치되는 공공하수처리시설은 하천과 바다가 오염되지 않고 깨끗이 보존될 수 있도록 하는 사회기반시설로 안정적 하수처리를 통해 지역민들의 주거환경 및 하천, 연안 해역 수질이 크게 개선 될 것으로 기대한다”라고 말했다.
