이번 단속은 소나무재선충병 방제특별법 제13조에 따라 지난달 17일부터 내년 4월 30일까지 진행된다. 시는 현재 관내 소나무류 취급업체와 화목 사용 농가를 대상으로 계도 및 단속을 병행하고 있다.

단속 대상은 △소나무 원목 취급 및 적치 현황 △조경수 유통 여부 △관련 서류 및 대장 비치·관리 상태 등이다. 또한, 화목 농가에는 원목의 출처를 확인하고 보관된 화목에 소나무재선충병 매개충의 침입공·탈출공 여부를 점검한다.

포항시는 방제 기간 종료 시점인 내년 4월까지 지속 단속을 이어갈 계획이다. 특별단속 기간 위법 사항이 적발될 경우 벌금 또는 과태료를 부과하며, 무단 이동된 감염목은 방제 명령 등 사후 조치도 병행해 확산 억제에 집중한다는 방침이다.

신강수 푸른도시사업단장은 “무분별한 소나무류 이동이 재선충병 확산의 주요 원인으로 지목되고 있다”며 “이번 단속을 통해 감염 확산을 최대한 차단하고 지역 산림자원을 보호하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
