포항시는 국토교통부 주관 ‘우리동네살리기’ 공모에 이어 ‘생활밀착형 도시재생 스마트기술 지원사업’에도 연이어 선정되며 국비 57억800만 원을 포함한 총 106억2,200만 원의 사업비를 확보했다고 밝혔다. 시는 올해부터 2029년까지 청림·일월동의 정주 여건 개선을 위한 도시재생 사업을 단계적으로 추진한다.

이번 사업은 철강공단 배후지로 오랜 기간 환경 부담을 겪어온 청림·일월동의 주거·생활환경을 개선하고, 고령화된 마을에 새로운 활력을 불어넣기 위해 기획됐다.

올해는 1차로 23억4,300만 원을 투입해 노후 주택을 개선하는 집수리 사업과 주민 건강 증진을 위한 ‘건강·클린센터’ 실시설계, 비대면 진료 시스템과 지능형 CCTV 구축 등 스마트기술 기반 정주 여건 개선 사업에 착수한다.

특히 2026년에는 노후 주택 수리를 중심으로 주민 의견을 반영한 청림동 경관 가이드라인을 마련하고, 집수리 교육 프로그램을 운영하는 등 주민 참여형 도시재생을 본격화할 계획이다.

이번 사업은 인근에서 추진 중인 고령자 복지주택, 호국역사문화관, 연오랑세오녀 파크골프장 조성 사업 등과 연계돼 지역 전반의 시너지 효과도 클 것으로 기대된다.

포항시 관계자는 “도시재생 관련 공모사업이 연이어 선정돼 대규모 국비를 확보한 것은 매우 이례적인 성과”라며 “주민 주도와 첨단기술이 결합된 지속 가능한 도시재생 모델을 구현해 청림·일월동에 새로운 활력을 불어넣겠다”고 말했다.

한편 포항시는 2026년 1월 실시설계와 성과지표 설정을 시작으로 2029년까지 단계적으로 사업을 완료해 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 주거환경 변화를 만들어갈 방침이다.
