【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시는 8일 시청 대회의실에서 ‘제28회 호미곶한민족해맞이축전’의 성공적 개최를 위한 준비상황보고회를 열고 분야별 추진 현황과 협력 체계를 점검했다.

이번 보고회는 장상길 포항시 부시장이 주재했으며, 포항 남·북부경찰서, 남·북부소방서, 해양경찰서 등 유관기관과 시 실무부서장 등 40여 명이 참석해 행사 운영 전반에 대한 논의가 진행됐다.

보고회에서는 축제 추진상황을 비롯해 교통 대책, 노점상 관리, 홍보 전략, 해맞이 명소 안전관리 등 세부 분야별 준비 계획이 공유됐다. 이어 기관별 협조 사항과 보완 필요사항을 논의하며 실질적인 운영 방안을 조율했다.

올해 축제장은 오는 12월 31일 오후 2시부터 개방된다. 현장에는 호미곶의 상징인 호랑이와 2026년 띠인 말을 활용한 탈 만들기 체험, 지역 농특산품과 굿즈를 판매하는 ‘호미곶간’ 로컬 스토어, 아트월 드로잉, 먹거리존, 떡국 나눔, 신년 운세뽑기 등 다양한 프로그램이 운영될 예정이다.

또한 밤 11시에는 전야 공연 ‘기원의 밤’이 시작되며, 자정에는 호미곶등대 미디어파사드가 상영된다. 이어 호랑이와 말의 상징성을 결합한 메인 퍼포먼스 ‘호마(虎馬)의 춤’이 진행된다. 일출 직전에는 줄타기·국악·탈춤을 결합한 해맞이 범굿 ‘어~흥(興)한민국’이 무대에 올라 대한민국 대표 해맞이 축제로서의 상징성을 강화할 예정이다.

장상길 부시장은 “이번 축제에 많은 관광객이 포항을 방문할 수 있도록 각 부서와 유관기관의 긴밀한 협조를 바란다”며 “행사 기간 안전사고 없이 즐길 수 있도록 남은 기간 철저하게 준비하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 ‘제28회 호미곶한민족해맞이축전’은 12월 31일 오후 2시부터 2026년 1월 1일 아침까지 호미곶 해맞이광장에서 열린다.
