【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=한국가스공사(사장 최연혜)는 취약계층에 대한 난방비 부담 완화를 위해 도시가스 요금 감면을 대폭 확대 시행한다고 12일 밝혔다.

 최근 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁 장기화로 국제 에너지 가격이 폭등한 가운데, 정부와 가스공사는 민수용 가스 요금 인상으로 인한 사회적 배려 대상자의 동절기 난방비 부담을 줄이고자 관련 지침을 개정, 이달부터 요금 할인 폭을 50% 늘리기로 했다. 

가스공사는 이번 제도 시행으로 지원 대상 약 161만 가구가 1월 1일 이후 사용분에 대한 도시가스 요금을 최대 월 36,000원 할인 받게 됨에 따라 서민경제 안정에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대하고 있다. 

 최연혜 가스공사 사장은 “에너지 요금 인상으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 이웃들의 부담을 조금이라도 덜어드리고자 정부와 힘을 합해 ‘도시가스요금 경감지침’을 개정했다”며, “앞으로도 가스공사는 대한민국 대표 에너지 공기업으로서 취약계층의 에너지 복지 실현을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
