【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=영남대 박정희새마을대학원 외국인 유학생 23명이 경북도청을 방문해 새마을운동을 공부할 수 있도록 지원해 준 경북도에 감사의 마음을 전했다.
6일, 경북도에 따르면 외국인 유학생들은 인도네시아, 코스타리카, 말라위 등 아시아와 아프리카 14개국 출신으로 자국에서 공무원, NGO활동가, 연구기관 등에 종사하던 20~40대 젊은이들로 앞으로 글로벌 새마을지도자가 될 인재들이다.
작년 3월부터 대학원 학위과정을 시작해 올해 8월에 졸업 예정인 이들은 마지막 학기인 논문학기만 남겨둔 채, 이달 말 각자의 나라로 돌아가 새마을운동의 성공사례를 자국 환경에 맞게 접목해 전파할 예정이다.
이날 유학생 대표로 소감을 발표한 인도네시아 출신 라마 세터 유너스(28세, 남) 학생은 “빈곤 퇴치의 성공모델인 새마을운동을 배워 국가 발전에 기여하고자 박정희새마을대학원을 지원하게 되었고, 타국에서 공부하는 것이 힘들었지만 많은 것을 배웠다”며 “이런 기회를 준 경상북도에 진심으로 고맙다”라고 감사를 전했다.
이철우 경북도지사는 “나라도 문화도 살아온 환경도 다르지만 새마을운동을 위해 만나 함께 공부하면서 마음을 나누어가는 그 자체가 경쟁력이다”라며“경상북도는 앞으로도 여러분이 나아가는 길에 함께할 것이고 언제나 여러분을 응원 하겠다 인류공동 번영을 위한 글로벌 새마을지도자가 되어 새마을운동 성공사례를 많이 만들어주길 바란다”고 당부했다.
한편 영남대 박정희새마을대학원은 2011년 11월 개원하여 총 4학기 1년 6개월의 석사학위 과정으로 새마을국제개발학과, 공공정책리더십학과, 지속가능발전학과를 운영하고 있으며 2012년부터 경북도의 지원을 받아 현재까지 45개국 226명의 글로벌 새마을지도자를 양성했다.

Twenty-three foreign students from Yeungnam University Park Chung-hee Graduate School of Saemaul, who will become global Saemaul leaders, visited the Gyeongbuk provincial government on the 6th and expressed their gratitude to Gyeongbuk-do for supporting them to study Saemaul Undong.
According to North Gyeongsang Province, foreign students are from 14 countries in Asia and Africa, including Indonesia, Costa Rica, and Malawi, and are young people in their 20s and 40s who worked as civil servants, NGO activists, and research institutes in their home countries. They are talented people who will become global Saemaul leaders in the future.
Those who started graduate school degree courses in March last year and are scheduled to graduate in August this year will return to their respective countries at the end of this month, leaving only the thesis semester, the last semester, to spread the success stories of the Saemaul Undong in their respective countries.
Lama Setter Younus (28 years old, male) from Indonesia, who presented his impressions as a representative of international students on the day, said, “I applied for Chung-hee Park Saemaul Graduate School to contribute to national development by learning about the Saemaul Undong, a successful model for eradicating poverty. It was difficult, but I learned a lot,” he said, “I sincerely thank Gyeongsangbuk-do for giving me this opportunity.”
Cheol-woo Lee, Governor of North Gyeongsang Province, said, “Although countries, cultures, and environments in which we have lived are different, meeting and studying together for the Saemaul Undong and sharing our hearts is a competitive edge in itself.” I hope you will become a global Saemaul leader for common prosperity and create many success stories of the Saemaul Undong.”
Meanwhile, Yeungnam University Park Chung-hee Graduate School of Saemaul Undong opened in November 2011 and operates Saemaul International Development Department, Public Policy Leadership Department, and Sustainable Development Department as a master's degree course of 4 semesters, 1 year and 6 months in total. 226 global Saemaul leaders from 45 countries have been trained.
