【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도새마을회 주관으로‘2024 경상북도 새마을지도자대회’가 4일 경산 체육관에서 개최됐다.

경상북도에 따르면 이번 행사는 2024년 한 해 동안의 새마을운동 추진 성과를 평가하고, 새마을지도자들이 서로 화합·소통하면서 빠르게 변화는 시대 흐름에 맞게 새마을운동이새로운 모습으로 발전해 나가고자 하는 결의를 다지는 자리로 마련됐다.

22개 시군 새마을지도자 등 2,000여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행된 행사에서는 새마을운동 활성화로 지역사회 발전에 이바지한 공로로이창준 새마을지도자경상북도칠곡군협의회장, 백태진 경상북도울진군새마을회장, 김성애 경상북도포항시새마을부녀회장, 김춘연 새마을문고중앙회경상북도예천군지부회장이 새마을포장을 수상했다.

대통령 표창에는 이종호 새마을지도자경상북도청도군협의회장 등 5명,국무총리 표창엔 이원호 새마을지도자경상북도고령군협의회장 등 10명, 행정안전부장관 표창에는 최민호 새마을지도자경상북도의성군단북면협의회 새마을지도자 등 44명이 수상했다.

아울러 새마을운동으로 도정 발전에 남다른 기여를 한 공로로 새마을지도자들에게 수여되는 경상북도 새마을대상은 이정미 포항시흥해읍새마을부녀회장 등22명이 수상의 영광을 안았다.

또한, 새마을단체 종합평가 결과 최우수에 경산시새마을회, 청도군새마을회, 새마을지도자경산시협의회, 경주시새마을부녀회, 직장·공장새마을운동경주시협의회, 새마을문고안동시지부가 선정됐다.

마지막으로 한 해 동안 새마을운동 활성화를 위해 새마을업무 추진 및 지원체계 구축, 새마을사업 추진활동 등을 종합 평가하는 ‘2024년 새마을운동 시군 및 읍면동 종합평가’에 탁월한 성과를 거둔 구미시가 대상의 영광을 차지했고, 최우수상에는 영주시·성주군, 포항시·상주시·의성군·청도군은 우수상을 받는 영예를 갖게 됐다.

경상북도 14만 새마을지도자들은 근면·자조·협동의 새마을정신을 바탕으로 마을공동체운동으로 행복마을 만들기 사업을 확대하고, 사랑의 김장담그기 등 다양한 재능 기부 봉사활동으로 지역과 세대 간 갈등 해소에 앞장서는 한편, 건강하고 행복한 공동체 문화 조성에 앞장섰다.

특히, 기후 위기에 대한 인식이 확산하는 지금, 기후 위기 극복을 위한 탄소중립 실천 운동으로 흙 살리기 운동 발대식과 자원재활용품 모으기 운동으로 기후 위기에 관한 관심을 확산시키면서 일상에서 탄소중립 홍보활동을 실천하고 있다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 축사를 통해 “대한민국의 눈부신 성장과 발전의 주역은 새마을지도자 덕분이다”며 “받은 것을 나누고 인류 공영에 이바지하도록 ‘언아더 경상북도’추진에 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
