대구시는 7일 산격청사에서 ㈜포커스H&S(대표 김대중), SK쉴더스㈜(대표 홍원표)와 수성알파시티 내 ‘AI 연구센터’ 신설을 위한 투자 및 협력 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

㈜포커스H&S는 AI기반 물리보안·관제 솔루션을 연구·개발하는 수도권 소재 코스닥 상장사로 지난 2012년 설립된 이래 업계 최고 수준의 성장을 실현하고 있는 기업으로 주목받고 있다.

전체 직원 중 약 40%를 연구개발 인력으로 보유한 연구 중심 기업인 ㈜포커스H&S는 글로벌 AI 물리보안 플랫폼 업체로 도약하기 위해 수성알파시티 내 2,112㎡(640평) 부지에 향후 대규모 투자를 통해 모빌리티 및 스마트 팩토리 부문 AI 안전 솔루션 연구센터를 대구에 새롭게 건립하고 지역 인재를 채용해 SK쉴더스㈜와 공동연구를 추진할 계획이다.

이번 협약으로 수성알파시티에서 ㈜포커스H&S와 함께 AI·빅데이터·IoT 기반으로 스마트빌딩, 스마트팩토리에 적용되는 각종 설비 및 장비와 연동 가능한 플랫폼 개발을 추진할 예정이다.

이번 ‘AI 연구센터’ 유치는 지역 ABB(AI, 빅데이터, 블록체인) 산업에 활력을 불어넣어 새로운 기회를 창출함과 동시에 과학기술정보통신부와 대구광역시가 공동으로 추진하는 ‘국가 디지털 혁신지구 조성’ 사업과 시너지를 낼 것으로 기대된다.
