16일 공사에 따르면 이날 진행된 준공식에서는 경상북도개발공사와 경상북도종합자원봉사센터, 대한적십자사 경북지사, 경북사회복지공동모금회 등 관련기관뿐만 아니라 최기문 영천시장이 직접 참여하여 자리를 빛냈다.

이번 7호점 대상가구는 다문화·다자녀 가구로 오래된 목조가구 내부가 무너져 생활공간이 턱없이 부족한 열악한 주거환경에서 생활하고 있어, 개보수 공사에 더욱 심혈을 기울였다.

특히, 초등·중등 자녀가 함께 생활하는 공간인 만큼 벽지, 가구 등 개보수 자재를 최대한 친환경 자재로 사용했으며, 더불어 아이들이 학습하는데 도움을 주고자 책걸상과 노트북도 함께 전달했다.

‘The 행복한 GBDC 하우스’사업은 경상북도개발공사가 보유한 업(業)을 활용한 대표적인 사회공헌사업으로, 주거 취약계층을 대상으로 주거시설 개보수를 실시하는 활동이다. 지난 2022년 상주시 1호점을 시작으로 올해 3년 차에 접어들었으며, 현재까지 8호점을 준공 완료한 상태이다.

경상북도개발공사 대표 사회공헌사업인 ‘The 행복한 GBDC 하우스’추진을 위해 올해 공사가 기부한 금액은 1억 7천만원이며, 경북사회복지공동모금회가 4천만원을 지원하여 더욱 풍성하게 사업을 이어갈 수 있었다.

이재혁 경상북도개발공사 사장은 “아이들이 안심하고 지낼 수 있는 안전하고 따뜻한 공간을 마련해드린 것 같아 뿌듯하다”며, “저출생·지방소멸 등 도정 현안과 연계한 사회공헌사업을 확대하여 살기좋은 경북이 될 수 있도록 더욱 노력하겠다”고 전했다.

The 행복한 GBDC 하우스 사업은 경상북도개발공사·경북사회복지공동모금회·경상북도종합자원봉사센터·대한적십자사 경북지사, 4개 기관이 합심하여 진행하는 사업이며, 공사 비용 기부, 임직원 파견 및 주거시설 개보수 공사 진행, 해당 지역 주민센터 접촉 및 대상자 선정, 준공 이후 사후관리 등 각 기관이 보유한 역량에 따라 사업이 진행된다.

The amount donated by the corporation this year to promote 'The Happy GBDC House', the representative social contribution project of Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation, is 170 million won, and the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea provided 40 million won, enabling the project to continue in a more plentiful manner.

Lee Jae-hyeok, president of Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation, said, “I am proud that we have provided a safe and warm space where children can live with peace of mind,” and added, “We will work even harder to expand social contribution projects linked to current provincial government issues such as low birth rates and local extinction so that Gyeongsangbuk-do can become a place where people can live well.” The Happy GBDC House project is a joint project between four organizations: Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation, Gyeongsangbuk-do Community Chest of Korea, Gyeongsangbuk-do Volunteer Center, and Gyeongsangbuk-do Branch of the Korean Red Cross. The project is carried out according to the capabilities of each organization, including donating construction costs, dispatching employees and conducting residential facility renovation and maintenance, contacting local community centers and selecting targets, and providing post-completion after-care.
