【브레이크뉴스 울릉】이성현 기자=경상북도개발공사(사장 이재혁, 이하 공사)는 주거 취약계층의 따뜻한 보금자리 마련을 위해 울릉군 서면에 'The 행복한 GBDC 하우스' 10호점을 준공했다고 9일 밝혔다.

준공식은 지난 8월 29일 열렸으며, 울릉군 종합자원봉사센터, 대한적십자사 경북지사 등 협력기관이 함께했다. 울릉군을 대표해 남건 부군수와 남진복 경북도의원도 참석해 의미를 더했다.

이번 울릉군 사업에서는 총 3곳의 주택이 완공됐으며, 그 가운데 서면 현장에서 10호점 준공식을 가졌다. 공사는 2022년 상주시 1호점을 시작으로 9호까지 사업을 이어왔으며, 이번 울릉군 3곳(10·11·12호) 추가 준공으로 현재까지 총 12호를 완공하게 됐다.

10호점의 대상자는 고령의 부부로, 비바람과 해풍에 취약한 노후주택에서 생활해왔다. 특히 지붕 손상이 심각해 안전사고 위험이 컸던 만큼, 공사는 지붕 보강과 외부 개보수에 중점을 두고 내부 인테리어까지 개선해 거주 환경의 안전성과 만족도를 높였다.

'The 행복한 GBDC 하우스'는 공사가 보유한 주거 분야 전문성을 바탕으로 주거 취약계층의 주택을 개보수하는 대표 사회공헌사업이다. 공사는 경북사회복지공동모금회, 경상북도종합자원봉사센터, 대한적십자사 경북지사와 협력해 자금 지원, 시공 인력 파견, 대상자 발굴, 사후관리 등 역할을 분담하며 사업을 추진하고 있다. 이번 울릉군 사업에서는 울릉군 사랑의 열매 나눔봉사단, 해돋이 적십자회, 삼봉회 봉사단이 힘을 보태 지역 기반의 지원체계를 강화했다.

이재혁 사장은 “접근이 어려운 도서지역 주거 취약계층에 따뜻한 보금자리를 마련할 수 있어 더욱 뜻깊다”며 “경상북도 22개 시·군 전역으로 사업을 확대하는 것을 목표로, 앞으로도 맞춤형 사회공헌사업을 발굴해 꾸준히 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

 Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation Completes Construction of "The Happy GBDC House" No. 10 in Ulleung County

Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation (CEO Lee Jae-hyuk, hereinafter referred to as the Corporation) announced on the 9th that it has completed construction of "The Happy GBDC House" No. 10 in Seomyeon, Ulleung County, to provide warm homes for vulnerable housing groups.

The completion ceremony was held on August 29th, attended by the Ulleung County Volunteer Center, the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, and other partner organizations. Deputy County Mayor Nam Geon and Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Member Nam Jin-bok, representing Ulleung County, also attended, adding to the significance of the event.

A total of three housing units have been completed in Ulleung County, and the 10th house completion ceremony was held at the Seomyeon site. The project began with the first unit in Sangju in 2022 and has since expanded to nine units. With the completion of three additional units (units 10, 11, and 12) in Ulleung County, the total number of units completed so far is 12.

The recipient of the 10th unit is an elderly couple who have been living in an older home vulnerable to wind, rain, and sea breezes. The roof damage was particularly severe, posing a significant safety risk. Therefore, the project focused on roof reinforcement and exterior renovations, with interior improvements also improving the safety and satisfaction of the residents.

"The Happy GBDC House" is a representative social contribution project that leverages the GBDC's expertise in housing to renovate homes for vulnerable communities. The GBDC is collaborating with the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Volunteer Center, and the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, providing financial support, dispatching construction personnel, identifying beneficiaries, and providing aftercare. This Ulleung County project was supported by the Ulleung County Love Fruit Sharing Volunteer Group, the Haedoeji Red Cross, and the Sambonghoe Volunteer Group, strengthening the local support system.

CEO Lee Jae-hyuk stated, "It is even more meaningful to be able to provide warm shelters for vulnerable residents in remote island areas with limited access." He added, "We aim to expand the project to all 22 cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and we will continue to identify and pursue customized social contribution projects."
