【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=대구사이버대학교(총장 이근용)는 지난 1월 14일부터 18일까지 3박 5일간 캄보디아 시엠립에 위치한 뿌억 초등학교(Puok Primary School)와 SOK 고아원에서 해외 자원봉사활동을 성공적으로 마쳤다고 21일 밝혔다.

전국 각지에서 학업 중인 학생들은 지난해 10월부터 주기적인 온라인 회의와 오프라인 모임을 통해 체계적으로 봉사활동을 준비했다. 온라인에서는 한국어 교육 커리큘럼 개발과 문화교류 프로그램 기획을 진행했으며, 오프라인 모임에서는 월 1회 K-POP 댄스와 라인댄스를 연습하며 봉사 프로그램의 완성도를 높였다.

이번 봉사활동은 현지 교육 환경개선과 한국 문화교류를 목표로 ▲교실 환경 개선 ▲교육 봉사 ▲문화 교류 등 다양한 프로그램으로 구성되었다. 학생들은 사전 모금을 통해 마련한 성금과 학용품을 현지 학생들에게 전달했으며, 노후화된 교실의 페인트 도색과 대청소를 진행하며 쾌적한 학습 환경 조성에 힘썼다.

특히 문화교류 프로그램에서는 캄보디아 학생들에게 한국어 기초 회화를 알려주고, K-POP 댄스와 라인댄스를 함께 즐기며 활발한 교류의 시간을 가졌다. 학생들이 직접 제작한 교육 교구는 현지 학교에 기증되어 지속적인 문화교류의 초석이 될 것으로 기대된다.

이번 봉사활동의 성과를 인정받아 대구사이버대학교는 뿌억초등학교로부터 감사장(Certificate of Appreciation)을 수여받았다. 감사장에는 "대구사이버대학교가 스포츠 용품 기증, 건물 도색, 한국 문화 교육 등 의미 있는 봉사활동을 진행했다"는 내용이 담겼다.

봉사활동에 참여한 한 학생은 “언어는 달랐지만 캄보디아 학생들과 함께 춤추고 웃으며 진정한 문화교류를 체험할 수 있었다”며 “봉사활동을 통해 오히려 우리가 더 많은 것을 배우고 얻을 수 있었던 소중한 시간이었다”고 소감을 전했다.

대구사이버대학교는 앞으로도 학교의 교육이념을 실현하기 위하여 지속적인 해외봉사활동과 글로벌 사회공헌활동을 이어나갈 계획이며, 이를 통해 대학의 사회적 책임을 실천하고 학생들의 글로벌 시민의식을 함양해나갈 예정이다.
