이번 과태료 상향은 지난해 9월 27일 개정된 「대구광역시 북구 금연 환경조성 및 간접흡연 피해방지 조례」에 따라 6개월간의 계도기간을 거친 후 시행된다. 과태료는 금연구역에서 흡연 시 부과되며, 금액이 기존의 2만원에서 5만원으로 증가한다.
현재 북구 금연구역은 도시공원, 버스정류소 및 택시승강장, 도시철도 출입구로부터 10m 이내, 공개공지, 고등교육법에 따른 학교 시설의 경계선으로부터 30m 이내의 구역 등 총 759개소가 지정되어 있다.
과태료 상향 조치에 대해 북구보건소는 홈페이지, 현수막, 전단지 배부 등을 통해 적극적으로 홍보할 예정이며, 현장 적발 중심의 흡연 단속을 지속적으로 실시할 계획이다.
이영숙 북구보건소장은 “과태료 상향으로 금연구역 내 반복적인 흡연행위가 줄어들고, 공공장소에서의 간접흡연 피해를 최소화하며 쾌적하고 건강한 환경이 조성되기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

Regarding the increased fines, the Buk-gu Health Center plans to actively promote them through its website, banners, and leaflet distribution, and plans to continuously crack down on smoking, focusing on on-site detection.
