북구청은 25일 오후 3시, 읍내동 964번지 일원에서 기공식을 열고 본격적인 공사에 착수했다.
구수산 스포츠센터는 지하 1층, 지상 4층 규모(연면적 9,383㎡)로 조성되며, 총 352억 원이 투입된다. 대지면적은 3,080㎡이며, 2027년 6월 준공을 목표로 한다.
이번 사업은 문화체육관광부의 ‘기초생활체육 저변확산사업’에 선정돼 국비를 확보하면서 추진에 탄력을 받았다.
센터는 지역 주민을 위한 복합 문화·체육공간으로, 헬스장, GX룸, 수영장, 배드민턴장(10면) 등 실수요 중심의 시설이 들어선다. 이는 주민 설문조사 결과를 반영한 것으로, 다양한 세대가 함께 이용할 수 있는 공간으로 조성될 예정이다.
배광식 북구청장은 “구수산 스포츠센터는 단순한 운동공간을 넘어 세대가 어우러지는 지역 커뮤니티의 중심이 될 것”이라며 “주민들의 오랜 바람이 실현될 수 있도록 안전하고 성공적인 완공에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
