북구청(청장 배광식)은 23일 팔거천 동천교 아래에서 대구시 최초로 ‘드론을 활용한 모기 유충 방역’ 시연식을 열고, 오는 9월까지 본격적인 드론 방역에 나선다고 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 배광식 북구청장과 구의회 의장, 지역 의원, 동장, 주민 등 100여 명이 참석했으며, 드론 방역의 원리와 운영 방식에 대한 설명에 이어 실제 드론 방역 시연이 펼쳐졌다.
드론 방역은 사람이 직접 접근하기 어려운 하천이나 저수지 등의 취약 지역에서 모기 유충을 효과적으로 제거할 수 있다는 점에서 주목받고 있다. 북구는 팔거천과 함께 서리지, 운암지 생태수변공원 등 주민 이용이 잦은 지역에 열흘 간격으로 총 25회 방역을 실시할 예정이다.
특히 이번 방역에는 미생물을 활용한 친환경 약제를 사용해 모기 유충만 선택적으로 제거하며, 수서 생물에는 영향을 주지 않는 안전한 방식이 채택됐다. 약제의 잔류 기간도 짧아 주변 생태계에 미치는 영향이 적다.
배광식 북구청장은 “AI시대에 걸맞은 첨단 방역기법을 도입해 여름철 방역 민원에 적극 대응하고, 사각지대 없는 방역 시스템을 구축하겠다”고 강조했다.
이번 드론 방역은 기술과 환경을 접목한 새로운 방역 모델로, 감염병 예방과 주민 건강 보호에 기여할 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

Buk-gu plans to conduct a total of 25 quarantines at 10-day intervals in areas frequently visited by residents, such as Palgeocheon, Seoriji, and Unamji Ecological Waterside Park.
In particular, this quarantine uses an eco-friendly agent that utilizes microorganisms to selectively remove only mosquito larvae, and a safe method that does not affect aquatic life was adopted. The residual period of the agent is also short, so the impact on the surrounding ecosystem is small.
Bae Gwang-sik, the mayor of Buk-gu, emphasized, “We will introduce cutting-edge quarantine techniques suitable for the AI era to actively respond to quarantine complaints during the summer and establish a quarantine system without blind spots.”
This drone quarantine is a new quarantine model that combines technology and the environment, and is expected to contribute to the prevention of infectious diseases and the protection of residents’ health.
