해당 채용에는 총 52명이 지원했으며, 서류와 체력심사 이후 면접을 앞두고 고위 공무원이 특정인 2명을 합격시키기 위한 청탁을 한 정황이 포착됐다.

국민권익위원회는 지난 3월 현장조사를 벌인 뒤 4월 경찰에 수사를 의뢰했고, 경찰은 관련자들을 입건했다. 반면 북구청 측은 이 같은 의혹에 대해 사실무근이라는 입장을 밝히고 있다.

우리복지시민연합은 29일 성명을 내고 "연령, 성별, 학력, 지역 등 차별을 줄이기 위한 제도적 개선이 이루어졌지만, 공무직 채용 비리는 여전히 반복되고 있다"며 "이번 사건 또한 정당한 채용 절차를 무시하고 청탁으로 특정인을 밀어주는 일이 있었을 가능성을 배제할 수 없다"고 지적했다.

시민연합은 경찰에 신속하고 철저한 수사를 통해 진상을 명확히 밝히고, 연루자에 대한 엄중한 처벌을 요구했다. 또한 북구청을 향해 "외부 압력과 청탁이 개입할 여지를 원천적으로 차단해야 한다"며 "면접 심사에서 공무원을 배제하는 등의 특단의 대책을 마련하라"고 촉구했다.
