대구경찰청 반부패경제범죄수사대는 5월 28일 오전 9시부터 북구청 자원순환과를 포함한 관련 부서 2곳을 대상으로 압수수색을 진행해 채용 관련 서류와 휴대전화 등을 확보했다.

이번 수사는 지난해 9월부터 11월 사이 진행된 환경미화원 채용 과정에서 특정 지원자의 합격을 청탁하거나 이를 도운 정황이 포착되면서 시작됐다. 당시 공모를 통해 최종 선발된 환경미화원은 5명이며, 경찰은 이 중 2명이 비리에 연루된 것으로 보고 있다.

현재까지 채용 과정에 부당하게 개입한 혐의로 북구청 관계자 4명이 ‘부정청탁 및 금품 등 수수의 금지에 관한 법률’ 위반 등의 혐의로 입건된 상태다.

경찰 관계자는 “수사 중인 사안이므로 구체적인 내용을 밝힐 수는 없다”며 “수사 결과에 따라 합격자들에 대한 신병 처리 여부도 결정될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

이번 수사로 지방자치단체의 공무직 채용 절차에 대한 공정성과 투명성 확보를 위한 제도 개선 요구도 이어질 것으로 보인다.
