군은 고령 인구 비중이 높은 지역 특성을 고려해 보건소와 민간 병·의원을 온라인으로 연결하는 의료 협진 체계를 구축하고, 의료취약지역 주민들의 진료 공백 해소에 힘쓰고 있다.

현재 청도군은 관내 10개 보건진료소를 거점으로 청도읍 인근 병·의원 전문의와 실시간으로 연결되는 원격협진 시스템을 운영 중이다. 보건지소나 보건진료소를 방문한 환자가 간호사의 도움을 받아 화상 장비를 통해 민간 병·의원 의사와 연결되면, 전문의가 환자의 건강 상태를 확인하고 상담과 진료, 처방까지 진행하는 방식이다.

이 과정에서 혈압과 혈당 측정, 문진 등 기본 건강 데이터를 먼저 확인한 뒤 전문 의료진이 온라인으로 상담과 진료를 이어가는 체계로 운영된다.

특히 청도군은 인구 고령화로 인해 고혈압과 당뇨 등 만성질환자가 증가함에 따라 의료취약지역 고령 주민을 주요 대상으로 원격협진을 운영하고 있다. 이동이 어려운 주민들도 가까운 보건진료소에서 전문의 상담을 받을 수 있어 의료 사각지대 해소에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

청도군은 전체 인구 가운데 65세 이상 고령 인구 비율이 46.5%(2025년 주민등록 인구 통계 기준)에 달하는 초고령 지역으로, 의료기관 접근성 문제가 지속적으로 제기돼 왔다. 원격협진은 이러한 지역 여건을 반영한 농촌형 맞춤 의료 모델로 평가받고 있다.

보건소 관계자는 “청도·화양·풍각면 소재지 인근 주민이나 자가 운전이 가능한 일부 어르신을 제외하면 대부분 지역에서 의료기관 방문이 쉽지 않은 상황”이라며 “원격협진을 통해 진료 공백을 줄이고 조기 건강관리가 가능해졌다”고 설명했다.

군은 원격협진을 통해 의료취약지 주민들이 정기적으로 건강 상태를 점검하고 필요 시 전문의 상담을 받을 수 있도록 해 만성질환 악화 예방과 조기 치료 효과도 기대하고 있다. 의료진 역시 환자의 건강 데이터를 지속적으로 관리할 수 있어 보다 체계적인 건강관리 서비스 제공이 가능하다.

청도군보건소는 2024년 5월 원격협진 시스템을 구축하고 같은 해 8월 대남병원과 늘푸른연합의원과 업무협약을 체결했다. 2025년에는 총 35건의 원격협진을 추진했으며, 2026년에는 200건 달성을 목표로 민간 병·의원 3개소 확대를 추진하고 있다.

또한 지난 6일 청도읍 소재 해동연합의원과 원격협진 업무협약을 체결했으며, 오는 19일에는 관내 10개 보건진료소 전담 간호사와 병·의원 관계자, 보건소 실무자 등이 참여하는 실무자 교육을 실시해 현장 역량을 강화할 예정이다. 이번 교육에는 한국건강증진개발원 실무 담당자가 참여해 원격협진 현장 기술 지원도 진행한다.

청도군보건소장은 “원격협진을 통해 주민들이 거주 지역과 관계없이 필요한 의료 서비스를 받을 수 있도록 하겠다”며 “앞으로도 디지털 헬스케어 기반의 스마트 보건의료 시스템을 확대해 군민 건강을 지켜 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Currently, Cheongdo County operates a telemedicine system, based on ten public health clinics within the county. This system connects patients in real time with specialists at hospitals and clinics near Cheongdo-eup. Patients visiting public health subcenters or public health clinics are connected to doctors at private hospitals and clinics via video conferencing with a nurse. The specialists then assess the patient's health status, provide consultations, diagnose the patient, and even provide prescriptions.

This system first collects basic health data, such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and conducts a medical questionnaire. Afterwards, specialists provide online consultations and treatment.

Cheongdo County, in particular, is implementing telemedicine services targeting elderly residents in medically underserved areas, as the aging population has led to a rise in the number of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. A total of 35 telemedicine cases were implemented in 2025, and the center is pursuing expansion to three private hospitals and clinics, with the goal of achieving 200 cases by 2026.

Furthermore, on the 6th, the county signed a telemedicine business agreement with Haedong Union Clinic in Cheongdo-eup.
