18일 오전 11시 대구장애인차별철폐연대를 포함한 35개의 대구지역 시민단체는 대구시청 앞에서 기자회견을 열고 지방선거 출마자들에게 대구지역 장애인 권리 보장 종합 정책 요구안 방향 수립을 촉구했다.

이날 단체는 "올해로 43번째 장애인차별철폐의 날이 다가온다. 하지만 이 땅의 장애인은 그 어느 때보다 극심한 실망과 분노, 혐오와 차별 속에서 이날을 맞고 있다"며 "이 때문에 이번 선거를 통해 선출될 대구시장과 8개 기초자치단체장, 교육감의 장애인 정책 방향과 입장은 중요하다"고 말했다.

이어" 대구시 13만 장애인 당사자들과 가족들과 함께 대구광역시장 후보와 8개 기초자치단체장, 교육감 후보에게 우리의 권리를 요구한다"며" 연설에서 방송에서 이야기 하는 정치인들의 말이 진실된 것이라면, 그저 선거를 위한 말 뿐인 말이 아니라면 그리 어렵지는 않을 것"이라며 투쟁을 선포했다.

이날 발언에 나선 함께하는장애인부모회 전은해 회장은“발달장애 가족의 삶은 여전히 피폐하고 무겁다. 장애인과 가족이 목숨을 끊는 비극이 반복되고 있다”며 “장애 부모로 살아가기 위해, 장애 자녀가 존중받기 위해 삭발한다. 국정과제로 발달장애인 최대 24시간 지원체계를 반드시 구축해야 한다”고 지적했다.

다사 장애인 자립생활센터 김병관 소장은 "일상생활에서 느끼는 장애인 정책에 대한 답답함이 4년 5년마다 돌아오는 선거때가 되면 배가되는거같다. 문재인 정권이 들어오면서 촛불 정권이라는 어마어마한 뒷배경을 안고 들어왔지만 결국에는 예산이 떨어지지 않는 서울권의 복지정책으로 실망을 안겨줬다."며" 오는 6월 1일 이번 선거에서는 우리들의 정책 요구안을 좀더 알리고 당선자들이 요구안을 받아들여서 좀더 나은 권리를 실현할수 있도록 끝까지 예고하고 투쟁하겠다"고 밝혔다.

이들은 장애인 탈시설 및 지역사회 주거지원 강화, 발달장애인‧중증장애인 24시간 공공책임 돌봄, 여성장애인 권리보장 및 복지 강화, 장애친화적 지역사회 환경 조성, 장애인교육 공공성 강화, 통합교육 환경강화, 특수교육 내실화, 평생교육 지원 확대 등을 요구했다.

한편 이날 오전 12시 함께하는장애인부모회, 전국장애인부모연대 대구지부는 대구시청 앞에서 기자회견을 열고 20대 대통령직인수위원회에 발달장애인 24시간 지원체계 구축을 국정과제로 선정하라고 요구했다. 

이들은 19일 청와대 앞에서 결의대회를 열고, 장애인 부모 1,000여 명이 삭발식을 진행할 계획이다.
