【브레이크뉴스 경주】이성현 기자=황주호 한국수력원자력(사장 황주호, 이하 한수원)사장이 이집트에서 귀국 후 이틀만인 지난 29일울진 한울원자력본부(이하 한울본부)를 방문해 주요 현안사항과 신한울3,4호기건설현황을 점검했다.

30일 한수원에 따르면 취임사에서 한수원이 국가 경제에 미치는 영향과 막중한 사명을 강조했던 황주호 사장은 취임 다음날 이집트로 떠나, 25일 엘다바 원전 2차측 건설사업 계약을 체결했다. 곧바로 첫 번째 현장경영으로 신한울 3,4호기 건설 현장인 한울본부를 선택, 국정과제완수에 대한 의지를 표명했다.

황 사장은 신한울 3,4호기 건설현장과 시운전중인 신한울 1호기를 둘러보며 원전은 안전이 최우선이라고 강조했다. 특히, 신규원전 건설에 대해서는 “법령상 절차를 준수하되, 최대한 신속하게 건설이 재개될 수 있도록 각별한 노력이 필요하다”며 속도감 있는 사업추진을 당부했다. 아울러, “건설 재개와 연계해 원전산업 생태계의 빠른 회복을지원할 수 있도록 주요 계약을 조기에 발주하는 것도 필요하다”고 말했다.

이어 울진군청을 방문해 손병복 울진군수와 임승필 울진군의회의장을 만나 신한울 3,4호기 건설 재개에 대한 협조를 요청하고,울진 지역에 실질적으로 도움이 되는방안을 함께 찾아갈 것을 약속했다.

황주호 사장은 또, 30일에는 고리원자력본부를 방문, 현재 계속운전을 추진하고 있는 고리 2호기 진행 사항을 점검하고, 고리1호기 해체 및 발전소 운영현황 등을 확인할 예정이다. 같은 날 기장군청에서 정종복 기장군수를 만나 고리원자력본부의 현안에 대해 논의할 계획이다.

황주호 한수원 사장은 “앞으로도 체코, 폴란드 등 해외사업 수주를 위해 직접 발로 뛸 것” 이라며, “특히 계속운전, 차세대 원전 기술 확보 등 회사의 주요 이슈를 중심으로 현장경영을 이어가고 현장 직원들은 물론, 지역 이해관계자와의 소통도 계속해나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
