【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=경상북도 자율주행 모빌리티 실증 용역을 단독으로 수주한 경일대학교(총장 정현태)가 경북도청 신도시에서 자율주행 서비스 제공에 나선다.

지난 21일 경일대는 경북으로부터 자율주행 모빌리티 실증 용역을 단독으로 수주받아 4달 간 2억 9천만 원을 지원받는다고 전했다.

경일대는 국토교통부로부터 국내 대학 최초의 자율주행 버스 면허를 취득해 2021년부터 공공도로에서 자율주행 스쿨버스를 운영해오고 있다.

이를 토대로 경일대는 경북도청 인근 신도시에서 무상으로 자율주행 서비스를 제공할 예정이다.

유병용 자율주행융합기술연구소장(기계자동차학부 교수)은 “정해진 노선을 운행하는 버스의 경우, 일반적인 승용차보다 자율주행 기술을 적용하기 유리하다.”면서 ”이번 용역을 통해 자율주행 기술을 도민들도 직접 경험하게 될 것“이라 전했다.
